Happy 4th July to all our American friends ~
Hasn't the weather been wonderful just to look out the window and see the sky so blue and the Sun shining makes this world a different place ~
Sammy my Great grand son was told he could play football again after getting over his appendix operation ~ no matches were immediately planned but they did have the World Cup to watch ~ which both Jake and Sammy enjoyed ~ both were disappointed when we were knocked out ~
Last Sunday a tournament was being played between the different teams in the area ~ Sammy's Team was included in the matches ~ and while Sammy went to save a goal the ball hit his wrist knocking it against the cross bar and bending it back ~
Thus ending up with Sammy having to go to the Hospital for an xray which showed that he had broken his wrist ~ It was his right wrist and today he had the cast put in place ~ he is left handed so after leaving the hospital he went back to school ~ now his playing days are over once again for a time ~ But knowing Sammy he will be back as soon as he can ~ until then he will just have to cheer his team on ~

In her splendid book
THE MARCH OF FOLLY
historian Barbara Tuchman
takes your Parliment and King
George to task for letting
The Colonies in North America
slip away. Not sure where I
read it, maybe the same book,
but I really like what Sir Edmund
Burke said: "Let us bind them
with laws of trade." That
somewhat still describes our
present bonds. Let us both
enjoy the spirit of freedom
celebrated today on both sides
of the Atlantic.

What a rotten thing to happen just when Sammy was getting fit again. Never mind there is not so much football during the summer and he will be OK for the start of the new season. Love Joan.
HAPPY 4TH...from the UK!

Oh Dear Ally, sorry to hear about your great grandson he will be downhearted now.Yes hasn't the weather just been fabulous. He is fortunate in scense though he is left handed. As if not he would have probably been very bored altogether.Have a lovely day tomorrow, hope Barney doesn't spot your lodger lol!! sorry I am late with my comments this evening.
Regards Astoriasand.
Poor Sammy, I hope the wrist heals fast for next seasons football! The sun makes such a difference to our mood doesn't it, I love it. It can get as hot as it wants as long as the grey clouds keep away. Have a great day! Jeannette xx
We're easily pleased aren't we? A little sunshine cheers us all up. Hope Sammy's soon on the mend. (All the best people are left handed you know.)

Happy 4th of July America!
Poor Sammy....bummer having a broken wrist...but thank goodness it was the right..since he is a "lefty"...and I find it interesting that you call "football"... and I say "soccer"...am I right??? hmm...interesting...our fourth was really nice...weather was beautiful...we did have a real downpour of rain about three in the afternoon....but it didn't delay or interrupt the fireworks...LOL...and that is what was important...!! right now at 6:53 AM Wednesday morning...it is raining....hard....lotsa lightning...and thunder....LOL...and I am not complaining...as we need the rain.....Hugs from KY...Ora
Good Heavens! Since I commented
on the first installment of this entry
you've added a picture. You're twenty
or thirty years younger than I imagined
from your widowhood.
Fireworks galore last night going on while
an outdoor celebration in Washington DC
was broadcast. At the conclusion a Bruce
Springsteen concert was broadcast from
"Saint Luke's" in London (?) The theme
was in memiory of Pete Seeger. The
Church's organ was enrolled in the stirring
'Rock' (?) renditions all full-out. Must have
been held in a 'Protest---" Church, ha ha ha ha ha........

Poor Sammy...just when he was fit again. Rather like Michael Owen! Weather is marvellous I agree. Love Conniex
Do please make sure he gets physio on his wrist once it is out of the cast...Kerry never got any and has been left with a weak wrist :o( She had to give up athletics and some other sports because of that :o( Caff xxxx
Best wishes for Sammy having to endure his broken wrist. It is a good thing he is left handed and can write for school. I hope it is not too painful for him. There will be next year to continue playing Soccer (Football). As a sport it is gaining popularity in the U.S. mark
