Thinking

Isn't it funny how some things can change your life ~ I lay awake last night as sleep wouldn't come ~ so I put my earpiece in and was listening to music ~ and I was thinking of JLand and the friends I had made since I logged on ~ and started my journal ~

At first I was dubious as to how much of my life anyone would be interested in ~ Or indeed how much of it I was prepared to divulge ~ I lead a pretty mundane life ~ and since Dick died a fairly lonely one ~ Not lonely in the sense of being alone because Lyn and I live together as her husband Richard died 4 years ago yesterday ~ and we decided to buy a big property together so we could have our own space and be with each other when we wanted to. ~ which works very well as we get along so well together ~ friends and well as being Mum and Daughter ~

When I think of Jland it is not the typing as I almost hear you speaking ~ I feel I know you so well ~ we laugh together ~ encourage each other when things arn't going well ~ and most of all care for each other ~ Listen/Read each other journals and make our comments ~

Then this morning when I logged on I had an e~mail from Jimmy ~ Stupidsheetguy

http://journals.aol.com/stupidsheetguy/TalkToMe/

He had 'brushed up' my old photograph I had posted yesterday and made it look so much better ~ when I saw it just knowing he had bothered to do this for me because he wanted to gave me a great feeling of being one of this great big Jland family ~ just wanted to say thankyou for having me here ~

Oh Ally
What a lovely entry (you've made me cry) although i think there are many bad things about the internet i also think that this is one of the very nice things about the net too.   To be part of JLand is such a pleasure and i echo your sentiments completely, it has been and is a joy knowing you in this way and i hope it continues for a very long time.

We are privileged to have you hear Ally.  I know exactly what you mean. J-Land changed my life so much for the better. I never feel lonely anymore, I always have something to keep my occupied.  I also feel I have come to know people and they have become dear to me.  The internet is a wonderful thing when it is used as it should be.

I know what you mean Ally: I have never had so may friends or people that care about me as a person. Long live J-land. By the way don 't think Angela and I could live in the same house, we would spend most of the time rowing, lol!

I think we reap what we sow and you are such a lovely giving person you certainly make me feel better about myself and have encouraged me so much, I am grateful for all your correspondence. Your entries are so lovely too, I don't know how you do it but you have a gift for making me appreciate this life. Reading that back to myself I am amazed you have impacted on my life so much and I've never met you - incredible! It's what we call in my line of work 'being with' someone and you manage to do that over the net! xx

Yes I agree Ally.  Sometimes I feel that I've know some of you for years & years.  Some of my friends think this J-land thing is so silly.  But just learning about each other's homeland & culture is priceless.  When I think about some of the situations I go thru and I get depressed, then I get on my computer and find that someone thousands of miles away is going thru or has gone thru the same thing. We are more connected than we think.  I've been trying to figure out how I can afford a laptop so that when I go on that Alaska cruise this summer..I can post and keep up with the rest of you.  Linda in sunny western Washington

Hi Ally, well the reason everyone is so nice to you is because you are a lovely, kind, wonderful person yourself - I will never ever forget your kind gesture to me when I was worried about Sam's French trip.  I think we are all here for each other and that's good - it's a great community and Im glad to be part of it. And, your never ever boring!!! Love Laine xxxx

Hi Ally, you're so right. I've been writing my journal since around January and I've met so many new friends, it's amazing. Everyone is so friendly and supportive. It's made me realise that not all the world is going to Hell in a handbasket, there are still those out there who care.
Thanks for being a part of my life. B. x

Hi Ally,  I feel the same as you about the friends I`ve made along the way.  I hear a different voice for each journal which in turn comes from all the individual personalities.  For me, J-Land is a real place with real people and it means a great deal to me. :o)

I always enjoy your stories of life from childhood on and your enjoyment of Barney and Nin and the good wishes you have for me and Salty dog.   Just knowing how people live in far away places during different times to present, is an education as well as a personal enjoyment.   I think the re-touched photo is excellent.    mark

Ally, I was skeptical too when I first started my journal. But I have met the nicest people with the biggest hearts here in J-land. People say that the internet is not real, that you can't form real friendships but I have to disagree. Years ago people used to write to strangers, becoming penpals, maybe eventually meeting. I feel computers have just made it easier to become the world's penpal.  I think I came to your blog through Jeannette, who is a wonderful blogger too.  I find myself interacting with older & younger generations and I think that in itself it a good thing.  I'm glad I've met you and so many others here in Jland....Sandi

Ahhh yes Ally. I can't wait to turn my computer on each day to find out what is going on with my friends and if they are all okay. Paula

HI ALLY
I PICKED UP YOUR JOURNAL VIA JEANNETTES JOTTINGS.
IT AMAZES ME HOW EACH PERSON FINDS SOMETHING TO SAY WHICH IS ALWAYS INTERESTING.
MY JOURNAL IS JUST SHOWING PICTURES FROM MY VAST COLLECTION. SOME ARE FUNNY, SOME SAD AND OTHERS PRETTY TO LOOK AT. PERHAPS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO PAY ME A VISIT. I HAVE PUT YOUR LINK IN MY OTHER JOURNALS LIST.

It's a lovely community here...I started mine to basically just keep a record of things happening with M at the time...I do feel sometimes i just seem to be moaning or whinging about things but it's nice to have support from another place...Even if most don't know what the boys condition means i know you all mean well...Lovely of jimmy to clean up the pic...It's also lovey that you and lyn get on well enuff to live together...Don't think i could live with my mum again we're to different LOL   Caff xxx

".... and since Dick died a fairly lonely one ~ "

Gee, I hadn't known this before, but I did
guess as much, that your husband, Lynn's
father, had died.  They say that women live
longer than do men, which isn't fair at all.
You have, Ally, many admirers. Much of that
admiration must come from the fact that you
truly do care about people. I want you to know
that your generosity is infectious, and because
of you, and your life, people, me anyway,
make much more of an effort to emulate your
qualities and try to care more for people than we
might ordinarily.

Hi Ally, what a lovely entry.  I feel the same...there are so many kind and caring people out there in j-land - yourself included! - and I feel lucky to have 'met' a few.  Each day I can't wait to catch up on the latest instalments!  As you know I was thinking of stopping my journal but due to some very sweet comments left for me, I decided to give it another go.  Take care xx

You have made your way into the hearts of J-land and are one of our own now.  It is a great group to be associated with and I thank my blessings that I found my way into this community, too.
