Welcome to the workshop

I would like to wish all my Jland friends a very happy and Blessed Easter

The workshop as you can see is packed with tools ~ and boxes of bits and pieces ~ I just love to go in there and look at them ~ and imagine how many things had been made there in the past ~ I love to undo the draws and see all the little gadgets laid neatly side by side ~

It will take some clearing out ~ one of my Nephews is a carpenter and is laying claim to some of the machinery ~

It is very big inside and when done hope it will make a nice holiday home ~ or even somewhere to sneak off to for a quiet day ~

Plans and permission to be passed ~ those things take time ~ But we will get the go ahead eventually ~

Awww, thank you Ally, for this. Those pictures brought back incredibly fond memories of my Grandpa's workshop, similar to the one in your photographs. I loved going in there and being allowed to occasionally "help" with little jobs, and even be given small tools of my own. I still have 2 of them, 35 years later!

Thanks for sharing today.

Hi Ally,  My late Father would have been like a child in a sweetshop in your workshop.  Before becoming an engineer he was a carpenter and always had a passion for anything to do with wood.  I`m sure he would have enjoyed being let loose in! :o)

I feel as if I've 'Second-acted' (a way to get
in free in NY sometimes if the house is not
sold out) a play and missed valuable information
from the first act. Whose workshop was/is it?
I don't want to pry, and I'll just accept the photos
as more glimpses of your "rural" enclave as you
referred to your geographic location, until, or if. you add
more 'story' to your life pageant.

Thanks for the Easter, Good Friday, greeting. There
is some kind of crackle in the air and in the media
this year, as if suddenly Easter is perceived as somehow
even more important than in previous years in my

Today I drove 26 miles round trip to get a new
edition of the DVD of CRASH. I wanted to make sure the
copy I got had not been pirated. Viewing the film
at Easter will no doubt have even more impact on
me and on my family. It is astounding how fully
the children grasp what is going on. In fact, it was
Michael, age 4, who brought me the newspaper ad
announcing the sale of the DVD of Crash at FRY'S
Electronics in Burbank a store ornamented with
a space craft that had crashed into the entrance of the
store which one walks under as one enters. Ha ha ha ha ha
'And children will lead the way.....' (a bit off no doubt, the quote)

Glad that one of your nephews is taking some of those tools to put to good use...You could sell the rest on ebay and make a fortune...Well the money would come in handy for the conversion if you get permission...Fingers crossed that you do Caff xxx

What a wonderful space to be able to lay claim to.

Up to three years ago, before I was able to take early retirement from my local college, I used to be a technician and many of the tools you were able to show in your photo journal, would have been a joy for me to use.

Having siad that, my proper job, if that is what you could call it, was to run the college's 'modern languages' department and althouth it was probably the most interesting job I have ever held, due to something new happening every day, I still enjoyed time out in the workshops.

Thankfully, I do not miss working at college but I do miss some of the banter I used to have with the rest of the likeminded men I sometimes worked with.

The picture of the workshop has brought back many happy memories to me.

Thank you.

By for now,

Hi Ally!

Your workshop will make an excellent get a way!  I hope you get your permit. Darrell has a huge shop like that, but it's so full from his Bin Sale/Auction days he only has a walkway in it. He goes out a few hours after work on warm days and clears a little more out.  He doesn't go buy more now, so I have faith he'll get it done one of these days! lol

Take Care!  Hope you had a great Easter!

What a great space. I expect you have mixed emotions about moving all the tools and changing the purpose of the building though, especially after so many lovely things have been made there.  I'm sure you will make it into a lovely retreat and it will be the making of many more wonderful memories xx
