Lyn was out yesterday collecting some medication for me ~ and visited one or two different villages in our area ~ she parked up in Aylsham and had some spare time to waste ~
There was an Antiques Market and she wandered into the hall to have a look ~ she saw the little purse in pictures above ~ but didn't buy it straight away ~ had a look at all the other stalls and the wonderful bits and pieces they had on display ~
But was drawn back to the purse ~ It is quite heavy and in immaculate condition ~ So bought it for me with the intention of giving it to me on Mothering Sunday ~
But she couldn't wait for me to have it ~ So I got it a few days early ~
It is so pretty and just sparkles whichever way it is turned ~
Can just imagine some elegant Lady dressed in her finery going of to a Ball ~ with this purse held in her hands ~
The embroidery is so delicate ~ such tiny stitches ~ and still full of it's original colours ~ This is something I will really treasure ~

What a wonderful thing for someone to do for you. I can't imagine a finer Lady than you to end up with such a beautiful artifact. Enjoy it to the fullest!

Oooooooooh Ally it's lovely, very femanine and dainty. It looks like it was a treasure of someone else once, very looked after..........it's gone to the right person, it's a lovely gift from Lyn. Rache
Owwww, didn't look like much at
first but then I got to the peek
inside, the "satin" smoothness made

It is lovely Ally, probably 1920s or 30s. I couldn't spot a label inside, but a good tip is that if it says Made in Belgium, or sometimes France, it is almost definitely pre WWII. The colours are probably so well preserved because if it was kept for best it probably wasn't exposed to sunlight too often - and you should now keep it away from direct sunlight too, to help keep it looking so good. Do enjoy it though!
Oh bless her heart ,she knows how to please her Mum what a delightful gift ,as you say you'll treasure it always ,,,............Janxx

Ally ... that purse is absolutely gorgeous ! You must have been thrilled. I just found out earlier this evening from a friend in Sleaford, that Mother's Day is celebrated this coming Sunday in England. Here, it is always the second Sunday in May. Thank you for your kind comments to my journan. I was just in the throws of answering to your journal.
You say you can just imagine some elegant lady going to a ball with this purse.
One of the reasons you were given the purse is that it would suit you and, of course, you are now the elegant lady and I hope you use the purse with pride.
I hope I have said that properly; it was meant to be a complement.
By for now,
John.
Hi Ally!
Your little purse is beautiful, and so well cared for. I agree with everyone it really suits you! Darrell and I love to go to antique shops when we are on vacation. We have really found some lovely things. Odd, but lovely!
Hope you get to go somewhere really nice to use it. Have any balls coming up?? :)
Take Care!
Darlene
I want one !! It looks like perhaps it was hardly used. What a wonderful find.

It's beautiful...I'd have had to hand it over early too rather than wait as it is so pretty :o) Caff xxx
very pretty ! A true treasure indeed.

The purse had to have taken care of immaculately to look that good. That is a treasure from a time so long ago. My mother and father were not born until 1921 and 1922. You will have a conversation piece anywhere you take it. mark
the purse is beautiful!
