Spitfires

There has been a lot said about Spitfires on television today ~ which prompted this entry ~

Dick had a small collection of spitfires ~ they are made of glass and are very delicate ~ he told me many stories about them during the war ~ how they would do a Victory Roll when returning from raids.

From a schoolboys imagination he made these stories very exciting.

And as Grandfathers do he passed them all on to our Grandchildren ~ the boys would sit and listen to him in awe ~ They still talk about Grandad and his Spitfires with a lot of affection ~

I too saw the item on the Spitfires found it very interesting. I always thought that they look very fragile looking planes but obviously they are not. Look after Dick collection, and keep them safe. Love Joan.

Hiya Ally. Just thought I would repay the visit and pop in and see you. My hubby would love that spitfire model, he is mad about them! My favourite is the B-17's and Lancasters.....partly because my late uncle flew in the Lancs, and I love the film Memphis Belle. Hope you enjoy reading mine as much as I have reading yours......have put you on my alerts!

It's their 70th birthday Ally (think I got the date right) my Dad is all the war.  I can see they're a treasured collection with pride of place.  Ojects mean more when they've been the passion of someone and it's a wonderful way of remembering affectionately.  They're wonderful. Rache xx

Great collection of spitfires and other mementos. Things mean more when they have sentimental values.

Those are great looking.   I have never seen them inside of glass for a presentation.   Have you ever tried taking any photos with the flash turned off.   I did some indoors of a friends artwork on the wall where the flash was reflecting and spotting white on the photo.   There was enough room light and with my editing program I was able to adjust the photo to the right amount of brightness/contrast.   They still look great with the flash.    mark
