Barney and Lunch

I woke myself up during the night ~ I was sobbing and the tears were rolling down my face wetting my pillow ~

I don't know if I had a bad dream ~ if I did I can't remember what it was about ~

My daft ~ Scatty little Barney ~ you know the one who loves to chase the Postman ~ and next door neighbours cat must have heard me ~ because he had crept into my bedroom and jumped onto my bed ~ he gently put a paw on my shoulder and wanted to lick the tears from my face ~ he was making a soft grumbling sound ~ as if trying to talk to me ~ then laid beside me ~ when I was fully awake I told him off for being on my bed ~ and had to laugh at the look on his face ~

He seemed happy that I wasn't crying anymore ~ so hopped down and went back to his own bed ~

Lyn gave me a nice surprise today ~ she had booked for us to go out to lunch at the Red Lion in Drayton as an extra Mothers Day present which was really lovely ~ a Carvery and I had Turkey and Gammon and lots of veg ~ new potatoes ~ and every thing else that goes with Turkey ~

Lol your nocturnal canine visitation,
tears, and comfort, etc., are moving
and most pleasant to hear of. Thank
you for this peek at a life across the ocean
in the "country, ("rural" was your exact word.)

In passing: last night I had a cinematic
adventure of my own, but in the form of
a movie on TV, a British-made movie very
good. It's called, I think, Young Adam. It's about
a woman who owns a coal barge in Scotland
and the man she sleeps with, a man who
has abrupt encounters with many men. Giving
even more weight to the Fem. saying, "Men are dogs,"
not of course to be confused with sane dogs such as yours
that is thoroughly religious and pure of thought and deed.
It's an 'Art' movie; it's well-made and the acting is top
flight. It's just that I'm not sure it says anythng important.
If I'mright that's a very great pity as I'd hate to see all
that excellent acting go to waste.

P.S. I meant to say the coal barge
woman owner's lover, the lead male actor,
has many "aprupt encounters with
WOMEN."

Hi Ally,  Barney is such a sweetheart, being so worried about you like that.  I wonder what you were dreaming about?  It may come back to you later.  Thanks for the link, very interesting,  I don`t suppose they did pub lunches back then...lol!  How lovely of Lyn to treat you to lunch, it sounded very tasty too. :o)

Oh Ally...you must  have had such a sad dream!! Barney bless him, what a lovely wee dog he is to try and comfort you!!  Many years ago when I first moved to London on my own and started to work. I woke up in the night ,like you with tears streaming down my face. I knew when I awoke I was crying because I was so very very lonely knowing no-one other than my landlady and the male police I worked for . I had never admitted to myself how lonely I was but the night and sleep brought it to the fore.   Eve

sad...and cute, too
we refer to our cat as "the healing cat"
she's like a lil angel and gives us comfort
sometimes she wants to sleep with me
she's hard to resist when she gets all purry

Ally, we must be drinking the same water...I've had nightmares a couple nights this last week.  I haven't had that happen in years...there's a lot of stress at work right now...so I'm blaming that on the nightmares.  My dear little cat, Gabi does sleep on my bed and when I awoke with these bad dreams...she was right there, purring and rubbing against my arm, trying to comfort me. I think they sense when we are having a bad time of it.   I love your "flashing Thursday."  Linda
