Plumbing

We had to have the plumber in before Christmas as we could not get any hot water,  we contacted one who lives in the village - found his name in the village magazine...

He managed to fix the problem - but told us the boiler needed  a service...

Well having lived here for over two years we were aware that it should be serviced every year.  so booked for him to come to us in January.

He arrived at 1pm the time agreed and set to work, he opened cupboards went back and forth into the Bath Room - Shower Room - Kitchen - undoing things putting in new little bits and pieces - Unscrewing things - screwing them up again.

Out into the Garden (And it was raining) as there is a box on the wall connected to the boiler... he did a through job - cleaning checking  - and Didn't accept a cup of tea until he had finished his work...

It took him more than two hours before he was satisfied every thing was OK.

He is a qualified Plumber with letters after his name. and the nice part was the Bill it was only half of what we paid in our other homes. and he left his card in case of any problems, no matter how small - but did say as he left, probably won't see you until january 2007....everything he did is guaranteed until the next service is due...Isn't it nice to meet someone so dedicated to leaving a job well done .....and a satisfied customer.....

My friend Bob is a retired plumber (after 35 years).  He was in business for himself for 10 years and didn't make a lot of money because that's the type of plumber he was.  He was married at the time and had a bunch of little mouths to feed, so finally closed his business and went to work thru the Union who would dispatched him out to various commercial jobs.  The only problem was then was that some of the time he had to work out of town.  He was in on the construction of many big buildings around Western Washington over the years. You are truly blessed to find someone who has a good work ethic and is honest.   I'm off to lunch with my brother....Linda

Hi Ally, this man has restored my faith in human nature.  We have our plumbing done by our nephew who is highly qualified and does an excellent job for a sensible price, but before him we had a man in who charged us the earth for a poor job AND was rude into the bargain! Your man sounds wonderful. :o)

Hummm wish I could find a handy man like that. Seems when you own a home there is always something needs doing. I bought a new house in 2000, my first brand new one. I have had more trouble with it then with my old old house in San Antonio. Glad you found this man. Paula

I had a plumber like that who plumbed in my washing machine. He had awful problems and took nearly four hours but only charged half as much as I expected to pay. I haven't forgotten the entry on my mums letter, I'll do it soon!! Jeannette.  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

Send him to  me please!!!!!!!!  I had an ensuite put in when I moved here last year and it was a nightmare finding a reliable plumber. I also had the downstairs bathroom fittings replaced and it took a plumber THREE days to fit a toilet bath and sink...what a rip off that was!!

Forgot to say plumber number 1 was on an hourly rate so no wonder he dragged the job on so long!!

I found somone like that  - in my Local free Paper, when I moved in here (3yrs ago)., the Cooker that was left looked brand new, but a problem developed with Thermostat. The Man fitted a new one, the bill came to £65.plus guarantee. It had problems 1 month short of the 12 month period. he redid it and didn't even charge the 'Call out' fee. I had him to repair my Washer towards the end of 2005, and would certainly call on him again. It's good to have someone reliable!
