Building

While going through my old photographs I came across these old pictures of Lyn's cottage before and during renovation..She don't live there anymore, but I know she found it hard to leave when she sold it...

                 ***********************

Lyns cottage on the farm was originally lived in by one of the farm workers....It had been  neglected - as no one had lived in it for years....but the foundations were sound.

They decided to have work done on it - so they could live there.

It took nearly a year to complete all the work from renovating the outside, and fitting all the necessary things needed inside...Kitchen, Bathroom/Shower room....as it was totally empty, except for the Huge big black cooking range - which filled one end of the room...but once it was taken out it made a lovely nook for the Fireplace....

It must have been a hard life for farm workers,

I would have liked to see the range when it was alight...there were ovens to one side so imaged they cooked and lived in this room.

Upstairs were two bedrooms which were very large.

When all the work had been completed - and the garden planted..it really look very smart

Hi Ally, the farm workers life would have been very hard I`m sure.  Isn`t it amazing what renovation can do for a place?  It seems to have a lot of charm now.  That would be my ideal home! :o0

Hi Ally & Lynn
Wow, didn't the cottage look lovely when it was finished - what a transformation.  I expect Lynn misses it but am sure she is happy in her bungalow with you :o)

That was a nice place.... I would have had a hard time selling too after all the work done.

I enjoyed seeing the stages of construction and the final result.   I just got home from visiting and shopping and found that a glass bowl that I had put on the burner this morning heating water had exploded into a million pieces.   I was able to read on the bottom piece:"Not for use on stove top or broiler".   Live and learn.   mark

Must have been hard leaving after all that work.
The pics of it before the renovation look much better than some of the buildings on my Great Uncle's farm, lol, they really just needed pulling down!!

What a charming place ... no wonder she found it hard to leave.  There is something about those beautiful old buildings ...  a sense of history in them.  Thanks for sharing the pics.  Tina http://journals.aol.com/onemoretina/Ridealongwithme
