Picture is of Amber my third youngest granddaughter - in her little hide-a-way playing games on her computer.
Yesterday Barney should have had his injections, but as we had a problem with Nin and couldn't get him in for a visit as well, we booked Barney in next week and Nin had his appointment instead.
Nin is still biting his paws and is not quite himself...well £37.00 lighter and armed with a bottle of special shampoo (only to be used on his paws and has to be left on for 20 minutes) before being rinsed off...
I'm thinking of making a special harness where we can put Nins legs through and hang him up somewhere to dry - can you imagine him running around for 20 minutes with wet paws...
This time the Vet thinks he is allergic to something in the garden - as this only started when we moved here... well now, this is a big garden so just cannot think how we can find out what he is allergic to..
He has also put him on a course of steroids... We are Just hoping this will help him....
..................................
I sat in the car with Barney while Lyn took Nin into see the Vet...a car pulled up beside us and they had a little white poodle - he/she looked immaculate - I should think they had just come from the poodle parlour - What amused me was the lady carrying him/her had the exact same colour hair as her dog and from behind you couldn't tell the dogs head from hers...
they say owners look alike -
another car followed and this Big chap got out carrying a tortoise -(they didn't look a bit alike) I just sat there wondering "Had the tortoise woken early from his winter hibernation - or had he been hurt in some way....I find myself just thinking these things especially when in the grounds at the Vets.
It still looked bleak with no leaves on the trees - but looking down on the ground - just very close to a bush I espied two pansies - one was a very pale yellow and the other a dark yellow and purple.....I wonder if they survived our winter or had they just been planted...I dont think they had just been planted as I am sure there would have been more than two...
We have to come back with Barney next week so I can see if there are any more.......

What a pretty little girl Amber is ,they all like to play on the computer dont they? and you cant really complain, they often know more about them than we do ! I wonder what is causing the skin problems for poor Nin ,I laughed at your suggestion to hang him up to dry !!get him some slippers ,thats a thought! cant you make him some towelling ones ?............Jan xx
sweet picture of your Grandaughter... I have a Grandaughter about the same age.... :) Hope Nin is feeling better now... I can't imagine how you will be able to leave that shampoo on for 20 minutes without him trying to lick it off... Good luck with that, Sandra
Rusty had a problem with his paws which the vet put down to the grit and salt they put down on the roads and suggested we wash them every time we came in from a walk.............
One of my dogs used to chew her paws, the vet said it was nerves.......like us biting our finger nails! At least your vet is trying to do something constructive, even if it is only trying to make your purse lighter! Amber's a sweet little girl. The pansies were probably the winter flowering ones although why someone would only plant two I don't know!! Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
Wonderful photo of your granddaughter Amber. I need to give Salty a bath but it is to cold out and would have to bath him in my shower. mark
Oh Ally, you are funny, you've got me giggling here, imagine if you had been sitting in the waiting room at the vet's, the lady with co ordinating hair colour of her poodle's and the man with the tortoise, you'd be looking at him and suddenly his neck started extending .... he hee!

Hi Ally, I had to laugh at thought of poor Nin being hung out to dry...bless his little cotten socks (which actually would be a blessing if he wore the...lol! I must admit to wondering about other pets and they`re owners myself, the funniest being the lady with the great dane. She was only about five foot nothing with `big hair`. When they walked side by side they made a funny pair, with the woman only a head taller than the dog...lol! I hope Nin gets the benefits of the steroids but I`ll bet they`ll make him hungrier and thirstier though. :o)

Lol at the thought of Nin running in mid air. We used to have that sort of shampoo for one of our previous dog who suffered constant skin complaints. Does not smell very nice but it usually does the trick. Lol at your descriptions of the people, thank you for the laughs.

Hello Ally you made me laugh when you said about the tortoise and not looking like his owner. Im pleased to hear that. Who would want to look like a Tortoise!!!!Your little grandaughter Amber looks lovely..........Jeanx
Thats funny about the pet and owner look-a-like. Isn't it fun to people watch? Got to go back and try to see the picture of your granddaughter. It was taking forever to load. Paula
Sorry to hear about Nin and hope all the medicaltion works for her. Bet Barney was pleased he missed his appointment and was quite happy to give it up for his pal Love Joan.
Hello Ally, nice to meet you!! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! Your entry about Nin had me in stitches, lol - I had visions of this poor dog strung up on the washing line - ha! I don't know if you could try this (it may not be physically possible if you have a LARGE garden), but you could perhaps section off some parts and letting Nin only run around in one bit for, say a week at a time in different locations, and try and discover if there is anything that sets off a reaction. Mind you, having read this suggestion, it seems a mammoth task, so perhaps not.........!!

I bet Barney didnt mind giving up his injection so Nin could see the Vet. I wonder if Nin should wear socks in the garden

Ally, Your Amber is a beauty ! Just like her Grandmum, right ? Allergies are the hardest things to figure out, whether it is a person or a pet. Most times, it will go away before you ever get it sorted out. Well, as long as it clears up, that is the main thing. I hope you find some answers !
