day of disaster well not quite :o)

How can I describe Monday ~ Other than to say it was a day of pitfalls ~

We were going to the Coast to do some business ~ really just to collect some printing we had done

but on our way I realised I had lost my Bank card ~ we decided to go into Sheringham to my Bank to make sure it was cancelled ~ when we arrived at the Bank it was Lunch time and there was only one young girl dealing with everything

She ordered me a new card ~ but did not cancel the lost one ~ saying that my old card would stop when I received the new one ~ I felt sorry for her as there was a queue of people waiting to be served ~ she gave me a phone number to call to cancel my old card myself  ~ getting on the mobile outside the bank phoned the number she had given me but could not understand the person who answered the call  it was a terrible line ~ later I ended up going back into the Bank and spoke to the Manager who had returned from her Lunch break ~ she sorted it all out in less than 10 minutes ~

Then we went to pick up the printing we had ordered ~ when Lyn checked the order she found that they had printed our www web number incorrectly ~ he asked us to return about an hour and a half later and he would have them ready for us ~ so we Drove into Cromer and looked around the shops ~

we went into one where I reached up to get a battery and a hugh heavy battery fell from the shelf right onto my right foot ~ you would not believe the bump that appeared on my foot it was huge ~ I was really near to tears ~ but the woman serving us was only intent on taking the money for my purchase and didn't ask if I was OK ~ that is one shop I won't go into again

We went back to collect the printing and you wouldn't believe it they had done it wrong again ~ the Chap apologised and said he would do them again and put them in the post for us ~ (which we actually received this morning)

what other disaster happened ~ OH YES ~ Lyn went in the shower when we arrived home and asked me to turn the spaghetti that was on the stove off ~ without looking I accidentally turned it up so burnt the saucepan

Lyn reckons I am becoming accident prone ~ what with burning my hand with the hot coffee ~ my accident I had a few weeks ago and Monday ~ I am beginning to agree with her ~ but they say things come in three's so perhaps that is the last of my accidents ~ I really do hope so

That kind of day is best being over I say. I cant believe some people, she didnt even recognize you were in extreme pain! Not a very customer friendly type huh. Just one of those days I guess. Hope your foot is alright. With that day out of the way...I hope the coming ones will be much better. :) So your pheasant has a lady friend! That is so cool. So maybe you will see some little babies running about back there soon. If so, be sure to take some pictures, I know you will though, I want to see them! Hugs, Kelly

Dropping anything on your foot can be so painful, feet are very sensitive. I don't blame you for not going in the shop again. I'm glad you finally got your printing done right and got your bank card cancelled. I hope you don't have a repeat of that day! Rest your foot till it feels better! Jeannette xx

Poor poor Ally.  You couldn't have packed more disaster into a day if you'd tried.
I cook a lot of spaghetti for my badgers; it's a very gooey thing to get off the saucepan if things go wrong!

Goodness what a horrid day, hope your foot is ok. Banks are just a waste of time imagine only having person on at lunchtime, when people need to use the bank during their breaks, and the printers well at least they sent your order on to you.
hopefully the rest of the week will better

Take care

Ally, we all have days like that.  Days where we should have just stayed in bed.  Looks like there's some sexy business going on in your yard.  Linda in Washington state

Oh,  Ally, I think we belong to the same "club"...since entering my sixties I find that I must go at thing a lot slower or suffer the consequences. I think our reflexes are not as quick as before, our brains still are but the flesh is weaker. I have tripped, fell, had things fall on me for reaching for them all sorts of accidents...I try to be a bit more careful now.  Hope your foot is okay stay safe...love, Sandi

Oh, Ally, you poor thing.  You really had a day.  Believe me, I have always been accident prone because I'm pretty clumsy.  I hope things get better for you.  xx Chris

Ally
So sorry about that heavy battery falling on you.  You're lucky it did not break your foot!  I can't believe the clerk showed no empathy or concern at your accident.  I hope you are right about the threes and that you will be safe for a while.  Good thing you went back to the bank and had the manager sort things out about the card.  I'd be nervous too, if I had a missing card that was still active.  Don't worry about turning the heat up instead of down on the stove... I've done that before so I know how easy it is to do.  The pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Henry were cute.  They've become quite the couple around your garden.

Oh Ally, what an awful day you`ve had, hopefully that will be the end of your bad luck. Your poor foot, I hope it idn`t too bad and I can`t believe that woman didn`t even bother to ask how you were, she should be ashamed of herself. What a palaver over the bank card, you would have thought the first time you went to the bank it would have all been sorted out for you.  As far as the spaghetti is concerned, I`ve done the same thing more than once with potatoes! :o(

Love Sandra xxxx

I am sorry to read about your foot Ally.    I hope you did not break a bone.    I think a quote from Winston Churchill would be in order about now concerning the dire situation needing resolve.   I am doing fine and walking Salty back and forth up to 2 miles/day to get my exercise.   I wear a velcro wrap around brace so that the area where my bone is completely removed from my spine will heal.    The spinal sheath needs to produce scar tissue correctly.    I have more feeling in my legs and more strenght.    I have been able to sit in my comfortable chair at my desk and read a book.     I had a unfortunate experience on arriving home.   My neighbor Paul VonBusch, aged 85, was found by me and my neighbor Christie, on April 5, in his trailer deceased.    Christie lives the next road over and the mailman told her that Paul had not been picking up his mail for several days.     The Coroner was able to find his neice as I thought he told me of her.   She and 3 other women arrived last weekend and cleaned his trailer and removed some belongings.    I am one of his only two friends that live here in Southern Illinois.    I can relax now and walk by his trailer with Salty.    It is being torn down for scrap by his only other friend, with the permission of his surviving neice.     mark

I enjoyed seeing the pheasant's in your yard.    I have never seen the female pheasant.    mark

Ally, I read your "About me."  Gee, you certainly don't look old enough to have great grand children!!  I am not sure you look old enough for grandchildren!  We were 63 when we became Grandparents, many of our friends have great grandchildren already. We didn't think we would ever get this far.  Life is full of wonderful surprises!  Hugs, Merry

I am definitely accident prone at the moment! After today's prang in my car, I burnt a saucepan yesterday, burnt the toast this morning and smashed a cup last evening. I seem to be just as bad as you!Love Conniex

I am so glad to see that you've survived that day of disaster. I hope by now that sore foot has healed and that the printer finally got it right. You're a lot more patient than I when it comes to things such as that. I might have forgiven the first error, but the second one would have put me off completely.

Let's hope that the "things in threes" adage holds true. No more troubles for Ms Ally, ok?

I am so very sorry I missed this entry...I have reset alerts for many journals over and over again...
I was happy to read the bank manager was able to sort out the problems with the cards...and in such a short time too.
Oh my OUCH! on that battery hitting your poor foot...this was just not your day at all...but I hope your next entry will get to me, no problem and it will show you healing and things going much better...many hugs and love you!!

Makes you wonder how some shops stay in business.  You ougt to name them - espcially the battery shop - so we can all avoid them.
