When I went to Norwich last week I took these photographs of the Street where I spent my youth....and some of the happiest days of my life.
St Peters Mancroft - The Forum and the house where I lived are all on the same Street..
I was walking in front of the Forum although it seems quite empty there were crowds of Children who were on Half-term from school.
They were playing on their Skate Boards - which really isn't allowed as it can be quite dangerous to the public..
I stood admiring the Forum it really is a lovely building.
When all of a sudden I had this terrible pain in the back of my leg...one small lad was doing a spin and separated himself from his skate board which ended up hitting my leg..
He was of course full of apologies - and I could have cried (But I didn't)...
I was meeting Tom at two o'clock and only had a few minutes to get to our meeting place.
How I got there I really don't know, but I did..I then had a look at my leg which had already come up with a beautiful long Bruise..Which was turning to a horrible purple colour.
Tom wanted to go back and have a go at the lad, but I was pretty sure he would have left the area. and they do not have anywhere to play on their skateboards. which is a shame as it leaves them no alternative but to play on the streets.
Anyway the bruising is subsiding now - still sore though...I was lucky as it could have broken my leg..(But it didn't)
The Children are back at school now so may make another visit soon.

Dear Ally what a terrible thing to happen to you you could have been really badly hurt. I don't think kids on skateboards know how dangerous they are. I have a fear of bikes on the pavement, with my hearing being so bad I never hear them coming its a good job Stuart is usually with me. Arnica gel is very good for bruising. Have a nice day Love Joan.
Sorry about the bruise they sure can hurt. I guess there is a reason why skateboarding is not allowed
Terrie
What a wonderful house to grow up in, so elegant. Beautiful pictures. I love Norwich, we used to go there so often. I am so sorry to hear about your leg and hope that it feels better soon. They should only skateboard in designated areas.

Love the pics ally, the forum looks realy grand. Hope the legs is better soon. x
The photos are lovely, your house looks very grand! I hope your leg heals, the kids shouldn't be allowed to use the area, it sounds like it needs policing to keep them away. They're a real danger to the public. Hope you have a good sunday. Jeannette xx
OH isnt that posh ,what a lovely house Alley ,what an awful expreirance for you ,the skatebourd would hurt ,hope it soon feels better ,...........Jan xx
OUCH.... I'm glad it wasn't more serious though the boy should have been more careful. I hope he learned his lesson now though. You grew up on a very impressive street. I bet you had a nice childhood there. There were 9 children in our family too when I was growing up but we didn't have such a grand house as you. We lived in a nice neighborhood also and had a very happy childhood. Sandra
Norwich is the Ebay capital of the Uk with 62% of people there signed up to Ebay..............
skate boards....................yuck
That must have HURT..hope its a bit better by now. Lovely house ..is it still a private residence? The farmhouse I spent a lot of time in as a child is now a holiday home I noticed ...wonder if it is still haunted. St Peters looks very grand....that street has lots of happy memories for you. Eve
Hope your leg is doing well. Children can be so careless. The pictures are beautiful. Paula
Hi Ally, Your poor leg, some of these children are so thoughtless, you could have been seriously injured. I`m just glad that you`re ok and not too sore. What a lovely house that you used to live, I can imagine it was full of happiness and laughter back then. Thanks for the photos! :o)
Sandra xxxx
Hope your leg heal soon. That is a lovely and stately home. Wow! You got a big family. I have six brothers and sisters myself that is why I vowed to only having two. It was a madhouse in my old house especially in the morning when our parents have to go to work and we all have to go to school.
the pics are great....and you look soooo lovely in wedding pics...and that kid...well guess it was better you had a go at him...for I don't think I would have been so nice....and I wish I had Stuart close by me....your blog is beautiful....Hugs..Ora
Hi Alley i'm so sorry to hear about ya leg but this is what we've let England come to we let our councils shut all our youth clubs we close our parks for fear of huge claims of damages and then we wonder why our kids only have the streets left to play on ! I'm not makin excuses for the kids but for us the Adult voters of this once fine country an wonder if we have left it to late to do anything about it ? X spike X
Hi Ally! Glad your leg is getting better. I bruise so easy, it probably would still be there this time next month! lol
You have "aged gracefully". :)

Wow, that house does look large. Everytime we go back up north I ride down the block where we had our old house but they changed the garden, the colors it doesnt look the same. Hope your leg heals okay, kids don't think...Sandi
I know we all moan about kids playing in the streets and yes they can be a danger but there's no-where for them to go play anymore...Parks are being sold off to build houses on as are school playing fields...Or they're locked up all the time so you can only go in at certain times...Up here they promised a proper skateboard park 4 years ago and we're still waiting on it being built...Then they moan about kids/teens skateboarding in the streets...Do hope your leg is better soon though...Kerry used to rollerblade but quit when she broke her wrist even though she wore all the safety gear...Garath has a sakteboard but there's no-where left for him to go use it that is safe now :o( Lovely pics of where u lived and got married Caff xxx
Sorry to hear that that boy ran into you with his skate board, hope your leg feels abit better now. Lovely big house you lived in,very posh!.......Jeanx
That was careless that the boy was doing his activity so close to you. Luckly you were not seriously hurt. The photo of the house where you lived is excellent. The doorway makes the building special. The photos of St. Peters Mancroft are interesting especially the close up of an entrance way with the statues inset. I copied it and saved it to look at. I enjoy these historic scenes. Hope your leg heals completely and soon. I am moving slowly today with the weather at 37 F and snow still on the ground. Took Salty for a walk and am reading now laying on my board/cushion. Take care, mark
Awww Ally....
Your poor leg, how is it today? The least the lad could have done was to give you a lift to your appointment with Tom :o) now imagine that.. hehee! But seriously you are a lovely lovely woman, most would curse the kids for playing there, but not you, you say its not their fault as they have no where to play and so have to use the streets.
Take care ...... oh and did you know that chocolate buttons are very good for bruises :o)

Ouch!
Yes, those skateboards are terribly dangerous. The young lads were most likely trying out for the olympics.
Have a nice day-
Niki
That really had to hurt! Sorry you were injured, on your outing. Enjoyed seeing photo's of your old stomping grounds. lol. ~Deborah
