this and that

Did my usual trip on Saturday to see my Sister Joy ~ it was really nice because some of my other relations were there as well ~ My Niece Carol and Nephews Ben and Paul ~ another nephew David and his wife Sue and my Nephew Tim and his wife Jannette  (Tim my hero who rescued me from the spider last week)

I must admit I looked very closly before going to the door this week didn't  want to demolish another spiders home ~

We went to the Garden centre and bought some bulbs ~ and Tom took Lyn to another centre to get the tree's you see in the pictures ~

I figure if you are going to plant trees in the garden it may as well be fruit bearing ones  ~ we did have shrubs in there before they were black and red currant bushes and they were huge ~ and took up a lot of  space ~ so now with the trees there we have planted all the bulbs between them ~ so hopefully they will look nice in the Spring Time ~

Driving home from Joy's on Saturday I was held up at every set of traffic lights and as I had the Camera on the Dash Board I decided I would take a picture at every stop ~ The first was at the Roman Catholic Church ~ I went to St Johns School it was called "Heigham House" in my time there but they renamed it at a later  date ~ the next one is in Heigham Street  where the back entrace to the school is ~ this is where my Brother Tony used to come out when my Mother left him at the front gate ~ thinking he was safely at school for the day ~ I was held up at two more traffic lights but then it was non stop and every traffic light was in my favour so didn't get a chance to finish my photo trip going home ~ didn't think it would be wise to just snap picture's while I was driving ~

I would like to congratulate everyone on being nominated for a VIVI  ~ it is so nice to see lots of my friends on those lists ~

Wow, your yard will be like an orchard !  Will there still be room for me to pitch my tent?  There are palm trees that grow in our climate.  A lot of people in my area have them in their yards.  I need to get some bulbs too.  My roses are like your..but it's too late to cut them & bring them in.  Cutting stimulates growth and at this time of the year we want them to go dormant.   I'm just letting them go into hips and that will bring on dormancy.  Linda in WA

I love gardening but am really a novice at it.  We went to see the gardens at Sissinghurst Castle a few weeks ago and they really put ours to shame.  We came home and my husband was right out there in the garden immediately pulling weeds etc.  Result! (as the younguns say)  I don't know if we will ever have a garden as nice as Sissinghurst...haha, but we can have our little Eden here on earth.  Thanks for another interesting entry.

Your garden is going to look stunning in Spring.  I no longer buy bulbs, too much work, I do have Daffs naturalised. No room for fruit trees but we do have a plum.  Loved seeing the pictures.

Hi Ally,  It`s a pity you can`t visit me at our garden centre but I think it`s bit too far for a few plants...lol!  What a good idea to let the sunflower seeds grow, I might try something like that though with my luck I`ll get dandelions...lol!  Take care. :o)

Hello Ally, How good to hear from you again. Quite a few faces been missing since the Vivi votes. Dunno why. Been missing myself most of the time. Your encourage
ing comments and those of others have re-awakened the writing instincts in me so airtime on aol has been short. Have read your postings, dunno why again but I seem calmer afterwards. You are good for me. Thanks Jim Halliday

Ally, it is so nice to put things in the ground in the fall and anticipate how lovely it will be in the spring.  LOL..I'm laughing at the camera on your dashboard.  Glad you hit a lot of red lights, as we got to enjoy the scenery.  Have a nice rest of the week.  xx  Chris

I love fruit trees. I do miss my garden terribly. I envy you planting all those bulbs and trees. Thanks for sharing. Love Conniex

Oh your bulbs and trees are lovely.  Just wait until those trees are all bearing fruit!  We too have just had a surprise late flowering sunflower.  It just grew from nowhere in a crack in the path where we assume a bird had dropped a seed.  It certainly was a surprise and really cheered us up.  Nature is so determined to do its job, don't you think?  Eileenx

You are so sweet Ally always leaving those nice comments on my journal.  I love yourjournal, just love everything about it.  Your graphics, the photographs and explanations, your way of telling your stories, I feel as if I know you just from your journal and it's so good to know that others like to leave the sunflower plants that pop up from the bird feeder where they land to see what they do.  That the double bonus of feeding the birds sunflower seeds, we end up with two gifts, watching them and haveing suprise flowers grow.

Blessing to you sweet lady.

I have 4 apple trees, a pear, a sweet cherry, a 'pie' (sour) cherry, two large pecan trees, and a hazzlenut and chinese chestnut trees along with many ceders, etc.     Your yard will look wonderful and you will have your own fruit in several years.     I enjoyed the photo of the church and your journey in your car.    mark
