The Collar necked Dove

One of Donna's "Celebrating 3 years" ~ Isn't it lovely ~ you can find Donna on my side bar

Since August 1st it has rained is windy and cold ~ I even put the heating on for an hour ~

so what have I been up to ~ not a lot since the rains came ~ Anna ~ Rob ~ and Leo certainly picked the right time for their visit ~

When we moved in here we had a gate put up between the Garden and the back door so Nin and Barney can't just run straight out  ~ as there is so much wild life about here we were a bit afraid that Barney would catch one of them ~ Nin isn't quite as bad but would help if Barney did ~ so before we let them into the Garden we make some noise to clear the birds and any other animal that may be lurking out there ~

Well the other day we did just that and let the boys out ~ Barney runs like a bat out of hell straight to the shrubbery which is quite thick at this time of the year ~ he was in there routing around ~ when he did emerge it was behind a Ringed CollarNecked Dove ~ or should I say the Dove was in front of Barney trying to get away from him ~ and as I said when Nin saw what was going on he went to join in the chase ~

At this point Lyn screamed for them to back off ~ and what is amazing he and Nin stopped dead in their tracks ~ The Dove got behind the Oil tank so we couldn't reach it to see if it was hurt ~ I got one end and Lyn got the other end but the bird just ran straight past Lyn and took off into wide blue yonder ~ I am told it would not have been able to fly if it had been hurt ~

Barney and Nin both still stood transfixed watching the bird take flight ~ although Barney did make one last dash when the bird was well out of his reach ~

Glad the bird was safe and well, you are right it was o.k. if it could fly probably just frightened to bits.  Luckily neither of ours chase the birds and we do not get any other sort of wildlife in our garden.

Hi Ally,

I`m glad the dove wasn`t hurt, although I`m sure Barney enjoyed the chase.  It`s rather cool here today and I`m wearing a sweatshirt for the first time in months, hopefully it will soon reach a nice seasonal temperature. :o)

That bird's nest is lovely. No wonder Lyn wants it inside. Barney and Nin are just doing what is instinctual for them but I am glad the dove got away from them. Have a great weekend!

I'm glad Barney didn't catch the dove, poor thing must have been terrified! I can't get any pics up larger today, I've been to four journals and they all had YGP pics which wouldn't come up larger for me! I'll come back later and try again! Jeannette xx

Good idea to make noise to clear away any little birds or animals your dogs may like to play rough with. Paula

Oh, I'm glad the bird got away!
I can't count the times one of our cats has brought a live bird in the house...It's such a struggle to catch them and see if they're ok, but it's so satisfying when ya see them fly away. :-)

Great entry hun...and sorry for delay..I didn't get an alert for your latest two entries!

Hi Ally, I simply have to add you to my sidebar.  I don't keep my alerts on because my mailbox gets filled from my graphics group.  I zip up and down my sidebar to read journals.  LOL...I found you again.  Now, isn't it funny how it can be hot and then the next thing you know so chilly the heat has to go on.  Have a great weekend. xx  Chris

No recent journal entries? Here it is the
eighth of August. Five days of mischief?
Ha ha ha ha ha.  Funny how mischief can
cause us to hide in the closet. So to speak.
Gee, and I got 'Editor-picked' and not a
soul made a comment?  Groan...... The
Editor was a Brit too.

Hi Ally!

Catching up again.  Seems that's all I get to do!  lol  Nin and Barney are LIVELY  or asleep!  So cute.  Have to tell you about this little dog that belongs to one of our new owners.  It's a little black dog, not much bigger than a puppy, but I think it is full grown.  When it was little it had cancer in the bone of it's leg and had to have the leg taken off.  Her name is Tiny. When she gets out all you can see is this black streak running down the street, she's so fast!  She has only had 3 legs so long I guess she thinks that's normal!  She doesn't limp or skip a step, you can't tell which dog has the leg missing until they stop and she has that side turned toward you.  If she has her good side toward you ....you really cannot tell at all!  She's something else!

Glad you had a nice birthday!!!  Happy Happy!  :)

Hugs
