Visited the Mall yesterday to buy a birthday present for Leo ~ Lyn's Godson ~ he will be 1 Year old on the 20th June ~ my how time fly's seems such a short time ago Anna his Mum rang to tell us she was pregnant ~ went into the Early Learning Centre and Lyn bought him a sand pit ~ I got him a Bubble Maker worked by batteries ~ the assistant was demonstrating them and they looked really good ~ am going to buy him a little outfit to go with it ~
Anna his Mum is giving him a birthday party and has hired a field in Emberton park in Northampton where they live ~ we are assured there is every facility there for Birthday Parties ~
A field seemed an odd place to me ~ but could have its advantages if the weather is good ~ because the children can run amok ~ (well perhaps not Leo who is only toddling at the moment) ~ there will be adults there as well ~
Can't wait to see how it all goes ~
Back to that £20.00 note ~ Money burns a hole in my purse ~ but I never thought I would actually burn money ~ It is very tempting to have something that looks so real ~ so to overcome the temptation of spending it ~ with tears in my eyes I put a match to it and now it is just ashes ~ and Lyn and I watched it burn to the very end ~
Almost felt like putting the flag at half mast lol ~
We did go out and have Lunch at the Red Lion yesterday and it was my turn to pay ~ but Lyn wouldn't let me ~ so I feel I havn't lost anything now ~

Oh how awful for you ,but at least whilst you still had the £20 note it would just anger you to look at it ,I love bubbles I would like that machine ,we are going to a party in Northampton on Saturday too ,but for my 70 year old cousin ......Jan xx
I do hope the weather stays good for Leo's party. A field sounds a good idea if the weathers dry. I love those bubble machines, we have them at work for the kids! I think I would have written to the managing director of the bank and complained to him. It doesn't seem right that you should lose out when the bank gave it to you. The branch staff don't like you to do that and it might have got you somewhere to have threatened them with it. Have a lovely evening. Jeannette xx
The Mall looks very similar to "The Ridings Shopping Centre" in Wakefield West Yorkshire Ally,I laughed at the burning money part, of your entry, that was real funny.still at least you got away with paying for the meal, which I think I would have done myself, treat you after losing that unwelcome twenty.Sounds good the childrens Party, seesm lots of mums do this nowadays, for childrens parties, and usually hire a marquee in case it rains, whier I used to live they do!!!!!!!!
The photo.s are realy nice,I could have swore I saw you waving from inside "The Early Learning Centre".at us all LOL!!!!!!! But no just my imagination running wild again.Take care have a good evening.ENGLAND on TV so I thought I would watch a little of it.Give them my support, they need it without ROONEY.Haaaa!!!!!!!!
Regards Astoriasand.
Emberton Park is lovely, it is near Olney so not sure if it still comes under Northamptonshire or if it is Cambridgeshire, but you will like it there......I have very fond memories of Emberton Park, many a picnic held there on our trips up from London before we moved here.
bubble machine sounds great.
spoke to our bankers
appalled at Halifax not exchanging it out of good will.
Did you have your hoodie on?
Hi Ally, I suppose that`s the only time when you actually will burn money, but I still think your building society should have given you the benefit of the doubt. I love Early Learning, they`re toys are excellent. It`ll be Roman`s birthday on 28th July and I have no idea what to buy him, so a trip to ELC is on the cards. Hmmm..a bubble machine? That`s sounds like fun! We are having his party in our garden, not quite a field but we`re borrowing a bouncy castle so I hope we`ve got room for the kiddies and their parents...lol! :o)

Bubble machine sounds like fun. just don't want to think about you burning money it's just wasn't right of the bank not to exchange it.
Sunny

Hi Ally, Sounds as if you had a lovely day out yesterday shopping with Lyn. What a shame you had to burn the forged £20 note, it was unfair of the bank not to exchange it. Hope you had a nice meal in the Red Lion.
Leigh xx
So sorry you had to see your money go up in flames. Liked the pictures of the mall. The gifts sound great, hope that they all have a lovely time. You did the right thing.

It's all about attitude - you should have burned that money and revelled in the decadence of it. Now that would really have cheered you up. B. x

My goodness, burning evidence of a crime
might be a crime!? No? Not in Merrie England?
There being so little self-regulation here in California
life is just one long law suit. ha ha ha ha.

Seems as if that field will be a good place to try out the bubble machine. Even the adults may like to chase bubbles. I would. Paula
It is sad that your bank would not fix their mistake. You did the right thing by burning that money. No matter what, doing the right thing will be rewarded in the long run. You have a lot of integrity! Kathy

How lovely of Lyn to treat you to lunch to make up for the £20 note, she sounds a lovely kind daughter.Enjoy the sun .........Jeanxx
Hi, I am smiling to myself because imagine people watching you burning a £20 note..lol..and thinking 'she must have money to burn' , but I know it is sad also, but you did right and you will be paid back in some way, believe me, because you are a good, honest person.
I miss little toddlers' birthday parties, enjoy the day.

bless ya Ally. Iv'e all ways wanted to go shopping at norwich as it's not far from me
Ally, you have far more integrity and honesty than your mean old bank. That must have been hard to burn that, well done! A sand pit and a bubble machine! You can't go far wrong there, he can sit in the sand pit while blowing bubbles ! lol enjoyed your entry Linda xx
Hiya Ally. I do love your part of the country. We must visit it again soon. Any suggestions where? Have done Cromer to Wells-next-the-Sea. E-mail me with any suggestions. Dan
POINT: Giving the banknote to
the English equivalent of The
Treasury Dept might have aided
them in sinking the printing of fake
money. It might have provided a clue
to who's making (printing) the notes.

Oh dear i'd have been in tears watching money burn but it does put temptation out of the way...Actually i'd have been tempted to deposit it back into the bank LOL...Bubble maker sounds really cool :o) Caff xxxx

I forget to comment that the food at the birthday party must have been delicious and looked fantastic. I will have to read why you burned a money bill that looked like real. Those are nice presents that you picked out for Leo. mark
