So many different things are popping up in the garden ~ the wild stawberries are growing here there and everywhere ~ and are tiny but edible ~ they would be nice to eat if you could get to them before the birds do ~
Thursday is normally the day I visit my sister Joy ~ but as my niece and her daughter planned on visiting us to ~day I have put Joy's visit off until tomorrow ~
So we had a nice afternoon catching up on everything that has been going on with them ~ you know what four women can be like sitting in the kitchen having a lovely lunch Lyn had prepared for us ~ As Emma my Great niece is on a diet she brought her own Lunch with her ~a Banana Smoothie and a small bowl of nuts and raisins ~ I felt terrible as I tucked into Ham ~ Crab ~ new potato's and lots of salad ~ then Chocolate cheesecake covered in thick cream ~ But Emma never wavered ~ she really looked like she enjoyed what she had ~
She has invited us over to her's for lunch ~ I hope we don't have to have what she had today ~ I nibble those sort of things in between meals ~
Couldn't get out into the garden today ~ we had a little rain but the sky was so dark it looked like we were about to have a storm ~ and it has been rumbling on all day ~

PS Lyn is chuffed tonight shes just come in from the greenhouse and remember the melon plants which were deleaved by the snail ~ Well guess what they are sprouting new little ones ~ Wayhay !!!!!

That tree you have in your garden is very very beautiful! I wonder if we could grow one like that here In Wisconsin. I think I will look around and see. I think I saw one in Florida one year but not sure as it was a picture my son sent me.. :) Sounds like you had a very nice day today even if it was cloudy. Our weather is the same today and cool too. Lunch sounded delicious....I've never tried crab before, what's it like? Had a chuckle at 'I nibble those between meals'!! That's so me....I buy healthy stuff with good intentions but end up eating them while I'm waiting on dinner!!
Weather here has been fairly rotten too - not so much rain but definitely a lot cooler.
Be careful with the laburnum, its seeds can be poisonous to ponys ,your dinner sounded really yummy ,I love crab , I do admire Emma watching you eat all that scrummy food , I am so pleased the melon is growing again after the snail incidence..........Jan xx

Lovely photos Ally, The tree is beautiful but aren`t the seeds poisonous? Perhaps you should get up really early one morning to get the strawberries before the birds....lol! I don`t know what the other plant is though, it looks as though it`s got a spreading habit, does it flower at all? I love the sound of your lovely lunch. It must have been torture for your great-neice having to watch you all eat...lol! :o)

Hey there, Ally ! Sounds as though all is well these days with you and yours. Glad to hear it. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your niece. I wish I could be as disciplined as she is ... I could stand to lose more than a few pounds! All you would have to do is to set out the cheesecake, and it would be all over for me !

I have never seen the type of tree you have before. The unknown plants look to me like a type of violet? Your lunch must have been delicious. My mother said that I could eat for two people and not put on a pound because I went and rode my bicycle for hours around everywhere I could possibly go. It is so different today and kids end up staying in playing computer or playstation games. It is good that your great neice is conscious of her weight and will making a good choice for her future life. The more she exercises the less she will need to diet. mark
When we arrived in Norfolk two weeks ago the Laburnum was not in flower nor the lilac but now it is all looking fab. Love Joan.

Ally - the wild strawberries sound wonderful. It's too bad that the birds always seem to get the best of every garden. My backyard peach trees are always ladened with fruit by mid-July, but I have to pick them very quickly before the blackbirds devour them.
By the way, your Great-niece must have incredible will-power to be able to resist chocolate cheesecake covered in thick cream! Jon
