Gardening and enjoying the sun

We were going to drive to the coast on Thursday as I wanted to get some pictures of the poppy fields ~ but as it was such a lovely day we decided gardening was more important ~ as the grass needed cutting and lots of other small jobs to do out there ~

So we made a quick trip into Norwich did some business there and hurried home ready to knuckle down ~ Lyn got the mower out ~ I made the tea ~ (I'm a good tea boy) ~ Tom joined us as he is painting the house for us ~ fitting it in between his own work ~

We let Nin and Barney up the garden and they immediately went for the mower ~ anything with an enginer is fair game for them ~ Lyn hadn't even started it up ~ so we let them have half an hour playing then put them indoors ~ Barney went to the window in the small sitting room voicing his disapproval at not being allowed to chase the mower ~ Nin just curled up and went to sleep ~

Today we have spent most of the time in the garden it has once again been a lovely day ~ they tell me it is going to be cooler perhaps some rain tomorrow ~ Yes of course it is Saturday so we expect nothing less ~ the garden could do with some rain so in a way I hope it does ~ but hope it is during the night ~ We had a Bar~b~Q and that was nice ~ always tastes nicer when you eat outside ~

Lyn not only cut the lawn out back ~ she did the one at the front as well ~ wish I had that amount of energy ~ but I do make a nice cup of tea ~

I bet Lyn enjoyed that tea too when it was ready... funny dogs liking a lawn mower;)  Your yard looks nice and neat now too. I hope you can get some pictures of the poppies yet too but if not I think you made the right choice. It's always so nice to sit in a nice neat yard isn't it.

Hi Ally, the fields look really lovely under blue skies.  Well done to Lyn she does have a lot of energy doesn`t she?  I hate mowing the lawn but thankfully Jim doesn`t mind and with a petrol mower it only takes a little while.  I love the Friday graphic. :o)

The fields of Oil Seed Rape are brilliant.     Your lawn looks inviting and Nin and Barney got to check the mower to see if it ready to go.    Your trip to the coast will be something to look forward to and the poppy fields will make good subject matter.      My riding lawnmower started and ran fine but the steering has stopped working so now it must be taken apart and get a new gear.    I won't have use of it until then so it may be awhile getting it figured out.     I will try doing it myself first.    I have a push mower so I am not without one.    I also have 2 new line and blade trimmers to use.    mark

No no no no oil seed rape is bad LOL...Ok it does look pretty but it's nasty stuff to those with asthma and hayfever :o(  your garden is lovely...If they are tadpoles then be prepared to be overrun with frogs LOL...I'd clear it out wouldn't want gnats or frogs LOL...Look forward to seeing pics of the poppy fields Caff xxx

Tea boy is a VERY important job and requires great skills in the making of the tea! The photos are lovely, the rapeseed really brightens up the landscape. Love Barney and Nin pics, maybe they bit off a bit more than they could chew picking on a lawn mower!! Have a great weekend! Jeannette xx

Of course you are good at making tea, you were a nurse weren't you!  Your garden looks lovely, my boys would love the basketball net... I would too!  Nin and Barney are so cute, Nin is very similar to my dog Milly, she also likes to bark at engines, especially motorbikes.  Sounds like you had a very productive day, have a lovely weekend, Suzy xx

I don't know what it is with dogs and lawn mowe. My dogs are the same x

Lovely pictures, you certainly have a very large garden, much bigger than ours. I love to see the rape seed, I know it causes pollen issues for lots of people but it is such a glorious colour. I am glad you got the gardening done. Lol at the mower and Nin.  Jesse does the same.  We try to remember to shut him in now.  It has been a glorious morning here and I sat outside and read the papers but now the breeze has turned chilly and there are lots of clouds building, feels like rain is on the way.

Great pictures Ally !  Our lilacs are just about finished blooming.  I picked bunches & bunches and brought them into the house.  I love their fragrance.  Now  all I can do is burn my lilac candles in the evening. Maybe I can come to your house and get a bouquet ?   Linda in sunny Washington
