bits of this and that

Once again yesterday we ended up at the Red Lion for Lunch ~ Tom had been painting the garage doors ~ 'a lovely Fern Green' ~ Lyn had been doing the same ~ painting the side door to the garage ~ me I was Tea and Coffee 'boy' ~ so asked them if they would like to go out for lunch ~ they both agreed that was the best idea I'd had all day ~

It was a beautiful day yesterday the Sun was shining and really warm ~ When Tom went home Lyn and I were in the garden ~ Lyn was weeding and I was supervising ~ Then I made a cup of tea and we both sat on the lawn looking up at the sky ~ there were quite a few swallows far above us ~ and we were making pictures from the white clouds (this can be a lot of fun) well it was for us lol ~

Today Nin and Barney were in the garden ~ Lyn was pottering about ~ I was tea 'boy' again ~ all of a sudden Barney saw a field mouse ~ well he thought he was a cat ~ he reared up on his hind legs and was about to pounce ~ but the mouse was wiser than him for it made a sudden dart through a hole in the fence ~ poor Barney stood there for ages waiting for it to make a reappearance ~ but of course it didn't it had more sense than to come back to do battle with Barney ~

Nin just don't have time for Barneys antics ~ although he did chase after the ball we threw for them but Barney is so quick Nin never stands a chance of getting there first ~ so he just runs back to sit near us ~ and watch as Barney try to tempt us to chase him for the ball which he will not let any of us have even if we catch him ~

Looks like we are just about to have a storm the sky has gone to a very black grey colour So I must go retrieve odds and ends left out in the garden ~

Since we moved the bird table nearer to the house the Crows don't seem to be coming here anymore ~ I hope I havn't spoken too soon ~

I have never actually seen a woodpecker except in pictures on t.v. and in pictures, we certainly have none around here.  Hope he strikes a really good pose for you one day.  Glad you had a nice lunch out.

We've never had a woodpecker in our garden but last year we had a kestrel standing on the lawn eating a recent catch. We watched from the kitchen window and I couldn't get a pic as my camera was packed away at the time. We went to look afterwards and found a mess of feathers and a pile of small bones.
I love making shapes from clouds too, it's a relaxing way to spend time. B. x

Hi Ally, How nice to have a woodpecker feed in your garden, they are such pretty birds and so colourful.  Well done for getting the photo. I must admit that the flowers from weeds are quite nice, but then they are wild flowers while we all grown cultivated.  Is that a Kilmarnock willow you`ve planted?  I`ve been meaning to plant one my self.  LOL at Barney and the field mouse, I could do with his services in catching ratty! :o)

Surprisingly enough the weather has been glorious here the last couple of days...that storm we had must've cleared the air a bit....here's hoping yours doesn't come to much!  LOL at Barney and the field mouse...it must've been so funny to watch.  Take care.

I have read through all your entries I have missed and viewed the photos.    I spent 7 hours on the computer Thursday and can't keep up with the alerts.   I did some painting outdoors yesterday and this morning I did not want to move from bed because of my arthritis.   It is a cool sunny day and I need to lay on my board today and read because I can't do the activity.    My white blood cell count went below 13 so I had another test on Thursday to see if it improved over the several weeks.    So I know I am feeling down from that also.     I enjoyed your story of Barney and the mouse.    He stayed laying down next to my bed this morning as I did not try to get up until 12 but I did not sleep since 8am.    I am not feeling too well so I won't try to do much for today.     mark

I meant to say "Salty" layed down next to my bed.    Also, the enhanced photo by Brian is great.    Wonderful colors and composition!    mark
