Sparham Garden party

Last Saturday our friend Carol opened her garden to host the "Sparham Garden Party" It was such a lovely day the Sun shone non stop and just a cloud or two in the sky ~

There were lots of people turned up more than in  past years ~ probably the weather had a lot to do with the turnout ~there were games for the children and many other games for the grown ups ~ stalls of all kinds ~

We had a raffle and a home made cake stall ~ two old vintage cars where you had to guess the mileage they had done ~

I had the most important :o) task of folding the raffle ticket stubs and there were many of them as you can see from the basket nearly full to the top ~

We made a great sixteen hundred pounds for the Church funds so everyone was pleased that the day went so well

We were entertained by a brass band ~and the children did a Maypole dance to entertain us ~

I really enjoy these Village Fetes ~ it is a good way of meeting other Village people ~ call me old fashioned but I do enjoy these times ~ they all add to stored memories of such happy times ~

The fete looks like fun - your friend must have a huge garden!
And look at that maypole. I haven't seen one of those since I was about ten years old!

Wow the garden party sounds like so much fun. I like that idea about the vintage cars. I love to look at old cars. I always tell John we need one to just drive around in on Sundays but with the price of gasoline I guess we'll have to pass on that idea. Paula

Hi Ally...the garden party is just a wonderful time...wish we had those more often around here....things of the past....it all sounded so wonderful...we have something of that type at my hubby's church in Alabama....it is held about once a year...it is called "Homecoming"...everyone brings a basket of food....we put it all out...sharing...there is singing and folks telling how they came to be in the church...families would sing together special....others played musical instruments...like you say..it is all a special time....God Bless...hugs...Ora

What a great amount to raise.  Yes, I used to love the old fetes in the days when I could visit.  We only have a small one here now and it is mostly little rides for the children.  So enjoyed all the pictures.

Ally, that looks like so much fun. I love those kind of small town festivals.  Her garden is lovely...wish mine looked like that.  And God smiled down and blessed you with good weather.  I'm sure that made it even more special.  Linda in WA

You really had a beautiful day to have such a fete.  The garden was lovely.  I sure would have loved to have won one of those old cars.  That box of fruit looked good to me.  Our weather this summer has been quite soggy.  xx Chris

So nice to hear from you your day looks super just perfect weather just the way it was when we were down your way (that reminded me of an old radio program do you remember that one Ally).  It is nice to meet the people who live in you village I don't know what things are like your way but up here neighbours come and go so quickly.  Glad you had such a good day although I did not see any pictures of your good self.    Love Joan.

I had to stop and take a close look at each and every picture, making them big so I could really see them. The ivy on that house is so neat looking and the gardens are so perfect and the edged lawn, all just so beautiful! Those cakes, well, they look good enough to try each and every one. ;) It looks like everyone was having a great time out there, its so sunny and pretty. Bet it wasnt hot either, I dont see anyone looking run down and sweaty and haggard like around here about now. ;) Love, Kelly
