Frogs

Tom was woken up earlier the other morning by some weird sounds coming from downstairs ~ he wasn't sure what it was but as it continued he got up to go investigate ~ it turned out to be his tropical fish tank there was only a couple of inches of water left at the bottom ~ the rest had seeped out ~ he thought it had a leak so brought the fish round here to put into our tank until he investigated what was wrong with his ~

as you can see from the picture above among his fish were two underwater frogs (I had never seen these before ~ in fact I had never heard of them before) they are minute and facinating to watch ~ they search all over the tank  from the bottom among the rocks and then seem to float to the top ~ can you see him ?

This is the picture seen from my bedroom window the other morning the sun was so bright I couldn't look at it
but a beautiful sight to start off the day

Note the frost on the front lawn it has been like that for the last three or 4 days ~ and is very very cold ~ so I am off to put some more logs on the fire so it is lovely and cosy indoors ~

Thankyou Donna for my opening Graphic ~you can find Donna on my sidebar

I believe you can purchase tropical frogs.  Not sure because I have not been to a fish outlet for years.  If he did not buy them then they might have come in as eggs.  Perhaps he needs to set up another small tank and put the frogs in there alone because you do not know how big they will grow and his fish might disappear!  Also he needs to read up or get advice as to what to feed them on. I would definitely put them in another tank.  I love frogs so would be fascinated by them.  Wow what a picture of the sun and that frost!  It certainly does look like snow.

I did not know about those frogs either, but it's a good thing he discovered the leak in the tank before it was completely dry. That really is a beautiful sight to see from your bedroom. Happy Holiday Ally!

What a perfect winter morning Ally.  I know we've all had to add another layer, and stoke up the heating, but how welcome to have seasonal weather.  Bunny xx

What a gorgeous sight to wake up to.  We've had no frost up here yet....although it's been cold enough!
My fish tank leaked once.  Never did find out why....so I just put it down to the fishes swimming so fast they made waves!
Cute little frog!

The abundance of life forms (not
necessarily to change the subject)
sure is astonishing; frogs scavenging
underwater?! News to me.
Thanks, btw, for your ever-kind

What a lovely view Ally, nothing better than a sunrise or sunset.  We've only had a couple of frosty mornings so far but I wouldn't be surprised if the lawn isn't white tomorrow, it's really got colder here in Kent.  My poor husband has to be up at 1.15am for work, we leave the heating on so that it's nice and warm in the bathroom when he has his shower, he then turns the heating on to the timer so it comes on again just before I get up.  I well remember when I was first married that we had to scrape the ice off the inside of the bedroom windows just to see what the day was like!

I hope Tom's fish tank got sorted out, he was lucky that he had a ready made 'hostel' for his fish!  I've never heard of the underwater frogs either ~~~ Pat

Yes, I do see the frog, Ally.  How cute!  Your sunrise picture is beautiful.  We have also had frost on the lawns but no sunrise as pretty as that.  I wish I had a fireplace in this house.  So cozy to have a log on the fire.  Have yourself a wonderful rest of the week and a Merry, Merry Christmas if I don't get to wish you one before then.  Love xx, Chris

Oh I have a love of frogs!  At home, out frogs don't live outside of water.  I was shocked when I turned over my compost heap this spring and two RED frogs hopped out!  I also love how they all come out during a thunderstorm!  Those aquarium frogs are cool and pretty inexpensive.  They will eat the fish roe, however, as they are omniverous.  Love the sunrise!

Love,

Hi there Ally,

The photos, of the sunrise and the frost look wonderful but, as we all know, looking is one thing and being out in weather like that is not always a good thing.  At the moment, we too are having the same kind of weather that you are having and it is bitterly cold.

I love to hear you saying that you are using logs on your fire, it reminds me of the times when I lived at home with my late mum and dad.

By for now,

John.

PS,

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.

Hello Jlander,  I am starting to find AOL blogs that have a focus on poetry. I am going to update this and touch up this blog this week with a nice background. I look forward to coming back to your blog and the other ones I find. Poetry is one of the most surreal places we can discover. If you know of anyone who blogs poetry could you send them an email or have them post a link at the blog. Please stop by and see what category you best fit it.  I started a short stories blog for Jlanders too. Just a place for some exposure and to meet others, show them your writings and engage our hearts. Hope you'll come.

Best Regards, Raven

I hope Tom was able to fix or replace his aquarium.     I could see one small frog.   I have lots of frogs in the septic lagoon as the water is treated with enzymes and leaves clear.    They are good for eating mosquito larvae.    The sunrise is beautiful with the frost on the ground.    It will be getting colder over the weekend and I will start the woodburner again.     I will get a photo in my journal of the addition construction.     I have not been doing much but get a little at a time done.     It has been raining with temperature changes and my back has been stiff but I am getting some insulating done in the open small addition.     Wishing you a good Christmas Eve soon!    mark

The picture of the Sunrise is beautiful!  I kept looking and wondering if that was snow on the ground and then read that it is frost.  Brrr....  sounds cold, LOL!

Tom was very lucky to be able to save the fish in his aquarium.  I wonder what caused it to start leaking?  I can see the tiny frog you mention.  I am sure they are interesting to watch.

Merry Christmas, Althea, Lynn, Barney, and Nin!  I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow morning as we have our Christmas Celebration under the tree.

HI Ally!  That is a beautiful sunrise.  We used to keep tanks.  Boy did we.  Too much work!  We had fish everywhere.  We were really into fish for a while.  I still would like to have a koi pond one day. Those frogs are really neat aren't they.  We had a tank leak like you are talking about, what a MESS!  I did enjoy watching the fish, it was just so much work to keep clean. Nice to meet you!
