Visitor to the garden and Nin and Barney

We havn't had a visit from a racing pigeon before ~ this one was really handsome his body was pure white and his wings were Black and White ~ he did look exhausted ~ we were told he was a racing pigeon who just wanted a rest ~ well he came to the right garden to have a drink and feed and get his strength back ~

We were told if we could catch him his owners telephone number would be on his wing ~We did try  but he wasn't for being caught  ~ last we saw him he was flying away ~

Once again Barney and Nin had found something horrible to roll in ~ when they came indoors Barney jumped on my knee ~ being the loving little dog he is ~ but  the smell coming from him was awful ~ so Lyn caught him and  put him in the shower ~ well Nin decided he should go in as well and joined Barney in the shower unit ~ I at this point closed the bathroom door ~

Lyn Towel dried the pair of them but they decided they were not dry enough so continuted drying themselves on the rug and the bed (as once again I had left the door open) and anything else they could rub against  ~ Oh the joys of being guardian to two dogs ~

Your pictures are lovely and they seem to be coming up on screen fine since I've gone onto broadband.  What a handsome pigeon.  He could never be mistaken for a town centre roof top dweller could he?

Hi Ally,

What a beautiful pigeon, not at all like the ones we see in the town centre.  Nin and Barney are just like Jake, as soon as he`s had a bath he has to roll over.  Good job we don`t do that...lol!  Isn`t it horrible when they roll in unmentionable things...phew!  :o(

When I lived in San Antonio one of my neighbors had racing pigeons. Another neighbor didn't like them flying over her clothes lines so he finally got rid of them. Paula

You had a handsome visitor. I find myself enjoying the cardinals and hummingbirds in my garden too. After living in an apartment complex with no garden, it's surely is a bonus to see nature again. Yes, having pets is like having little kids. They keep you on your toes 24/7. Hugs.

Lovely bird, very attractive. I hope he is safely home in his loft by now.  Hope Nin and Barney enjoyed their refreshing spray.  Dogs always smell so nice after a shampoo.  Glad you had your sofa covered.

They're having fun doing the 'roll and dry' thing.........dogs act like puppies when they've had a wash :)

...........your pigeon knows where he can have an overnight stay Ally, you may see him again. Rache

My dogs used to roll in fox poo, ugh, the smell was indescribable! The racing pigeon was pretty. I had one who came to my garden years ago and came in the kitchen! I got his racing number and found the owner who lived in Cheshire, he said he'd been missing for a couple of months! I think he wanted a trip to the seaside! He flew off, I never found out if he got home! Jeannette xx

Oh, those doggies sure do like to get into things.  My dog, Grizzly, needs a bath terribly but I hesitate because he also loves to dry himself on my carpet.  I just had new carpeting installed this past spring go my poor dog is quite in need of a bath.  Have a good weekend.  xxx Chris

I clicked on the pix to make
a mini movie, ha ha ha. White,
never seen such white birds!
You live in an enviable, Jane
Austen, rural atmosphere. I think
I'll don some makeup, rent some
old clothes and showup at your
door like an Aussie swagman in
town by mistake, asking for some
grub. Roast pigeon would be okay. Ha.

I'm a swagman passing
by your splendid estate.
Inside I hear the ripples of
laughter and the popping of
corks. Feeling unworthy, I
saunter on, looking for a
spot to rest briefly.

Talk about 'smelly' animals, someone dumped a ferret in our barn, and today found him running around our house, much to the disgust of the dogs! but he is rather cute and my son has him now, but not sure what they eat..lol
