odds and ends

Just  a short entry to let you know I am still around ~ the weather has been just awful Thursday the normal day I visit my sister Joy ~ Friday and Saturday it just rained and was windy and cold ~ so didn't venture out until today Sunday it has been a really nice day today ~

we went to Sheringham the other day as had to pick up papers from the accountants ~ they have a carnival there but had to cancel this year because of flooding due to heavy rainfall  ~ but understand it has gone ahead now ~ hence the buntings all the way up the high street ~

We very rarely have the front door open as you can see it leads straight out onto the lane and Barney would be chasing the horses that trot along there from time to time ~ so we don't take the chance with him ~

Hope you have all had a good weekend ~ and a good week lays ahead of you ~

Hi Ally, we've had some thunderstorms here today and plenty of rain. but, as you say, at least it's giving the grass a chance to regain some colour. Have a good week. B. x

Lovely photos Ally, your sister has some lovely flowers in her garden and just look how lush your lawn is, ours looks more like straw.:o(  We`ve been having heavy rain on and off today and we are forcast more of the same.  It is a bit chilly here but I don`t really mind, Kerry doesn`t like it though and has put the heating on!!  I`m glad the carnival went ahead in the end, there would have been some very disappointed children if it hadn`t. :o)

In California - you know the desert wilderness
one of your fearless sailors, in his sailing ship,
navigated down the coast of hundreds of years
ago and didn't spot the Golden Gate - the time
as I write is Sunday August 13, Noon. All's well!
Thanks for the greeting. At present I'm reading,
from the Sunday Times book section, a review
of THE FEMALE BRAIN (non-fiction), by Louann
Brizendine, M.D.  Just from the review I've learned
the blessed news that the female brain is different
from the male brain. Thank God, thank God Almighty!
I just knew there had to be a reason I like women so
much better. That English, undaunted Brilliant sailor
shoulda had a woman with him!

It's odd how a bit of rain makes the grass green again! Yours is lovely and green. Joys' garden is so pretty and I love her cat too as you guessed I might! Sheringham looks a lovely town, I'm glad they had their carnival eventually! We've had gales and rain today.....and yesterday too! Have a good week. Jeannette xx

I have to say that I'd welcome just one cold rainy day right about now.  Here in Reno the temperature has dropped, from an average of 95 to 85 in the last week and we have been getting a nice breeze but to the northwest of the city there is a huge fire burning up the side of the Sierras and Peavine Mountain is glowing red.  We live a good 8 miles from the fire but we can smell the smoke in the air.  However this is pretty much a common summer event here so we aren't worried.

As usual I always enjoy how pretty your journal is.

I enjoyed seeing the photos of Sheringham and all of the brick work buildings.   Your lawn looks nice and trimmed and green.     I ended up laying on my board/cushion reading yesterday to let my low back heal up as it has been bad since mid-July.     I am able to bend enough to tie my shoes now.    My lawn is getting taller so when I feel up to it I will get it looking better.    Today it had rained and was hot and humid with a storm  and dark sky appearing to be ready to rain again.    Just doing some laundry today and then back to the board/cushion for several hours and it really helps me make the back less painful.   I am able to sit at the computer now for awhile and enjoy visiting the journals.     Salty is in from his pen and enjoying the A.C.     mark

Hi Ally!

Your green yard is so pretty!  Saturday a week ago we had a neighborhood yard sale at the Jagoe house (work), and when we took down the tables and tents ....oh the poor yard!  We have worked so hard to keep it green and with all the tromping and it being so hot we smashed it and turned it brown.  I thought it was dead!  Then all since then it's stormed about every day so it greened back up..and I didn't have to water all that time either!  That's a job.  Takes all day just moving the sprinklers around to keep it watered. Darrell did real well with his baseball cards at the yardsale though.

Oooohh a Chocolate Factory!! I'd go crazy in there!!! lol

Hugs!
Darlene
