Med.Ball

No this isn't a new ball for Barney to play with - must admit he was quite taken aback by it - after it was fully inflated...It took Lyn nearly an hour to pump it up the the 33 inches it had to be..

While out water skiing a few years ago she had an accident, and injured her back - she uses a bean bag to do exercises on to strenthen it.

Well when I saw this Medical Ball I thought "Hey" that's just the thing for her -

So on Line I go and order one for her

It arrived two days later.

Well I am so glad I got it for her, she has kept me entertained since she first tried to use it.

You are supposed to be able to sit on it and balance yourself without holding on to anything.

She hasn't mastered the art of doing this feat yet.  and now places cushions around her so she don't damage herself any further. when she falls off...as she does fall off every time.

When she lays across it both Barney and Nin thinks its play time and try to climb on her back...Barney has managed to do this -it amazes me how high that little dog can Jump...... He sat there looking very pleased with himself....

So while Lyn is doing her exercises I turn the TV off - who needs it when you have home made entertainment....

Ally

Ha ha ha, yes it must be very entertaining especially with the dogs trying to do tricks.  As long as it helps her, it is worth it.

Hi Ally, that looks great fun. The dogs must be wondering how they are going to manage to get theit teeth around it but I think it is going to beat them at least i hope so.  Thanks for getting back to me about the email you sent earlier as I read them the wrong way round they had me puzzled. Love Joan.

LOL! Sorry about Lyn's back. I have one of those balls, and both my dogs hate it. They growl at it. Bless Barney & Nin, would love to see them helping Lyn exercise. Sounds like there is never a dull moment at your house. LOL!  I agree, that would be funnier, than watching TV. Barney could join a circus. LOL!   ~Deborah

Lolol Ally it comes with in built entertainment.  I've seen those used on TV, they are good, better if someone puts their hands under their back to support them until you get the hang of them.  Smiling at Barney and Nin, what a sight that must be :) Rache xx

I have one of those and a video that shows you the exercises to do with it.  The one I really think is cool is the one that is made to be an office chair.  The ball sits right into this chair that holds the ball in place and I can see how that would really be beneficial. It would certainly keep you alert, plus you could bonce a little and just keep your chi (energy) moving instead of getting so stiff.  My grandkids love this ball but not for laying on, they find it dandy to toss back and forth to each other causing grandma (me) to say, now wait just a moment that's going to knock the lamp.....crash....off the table.

I tried to get my son one of these when he was doing back therapy.  He said it was bad enough having to use one at the rehab center, let alone at home !  I have never tried it myself, but I'm sure I'd be a complete clutz !  Tina http://journals.aol.com/onemoretina/Ridealongwithme

Kind of sounds like a three ring circus at your house these days. Now you gotta try it. Paula

I used one at P.T. and layed face down on it and tried to balance myself.   My back stiffened up several days ago with the weather change and because of the work activity I have been doing so I got out my moist heating pad.   After that I did several of "knees bent"  sit-ups and my spine makes popping sounds.   Exercise is beneficial.      The way Barney jumped onto her back may have just added to the exercise.  lol   mark

Glad there is other entertainment going on in your household when the TV goes off.

Just joking,

I hope the ball helps.

By for now,

John.

It's one of those balls i use in the gym to do my sit ups on...I have to use the biggest size which is 75cm as am quite tall...They're so much easier to do on the ball as u have support...The trainers in the gym encourage most people to either use one of them or those rocker things instead of sit ups with no support    Caff xxx
