Village school

I live in a very small village ~ you can drive through it and around it in less than 15 minutes ~ We have no Local Pub and no Local Shop ~ we do have a village school room which is no longer used as a school ~ but village meetings and other events are held there now ~ can you imagine those children over 150 years ago attending school there ~

I love the peace and quiet ~ not a lot of traffic ~ and the road is used by people exercising their Horses I love to hear clip clop of their hooves as they canter by ~

                       ++++++++++++++++++++

I just popped in to wish everyone A Happy and Blessed Easter ~ off out into the Garden the Sun is shining and Lyn is already out there working hard ~ so will go make us a cup of tea and sit and watch her :o)

Love the pics Ally. But a village without a pub!? I thought pubs and idiots were standard issue for you country yokels. ;O)
Have a good weekend.  B. x

Its nice to live in a quiet place and although our road is busy (hmmm a country lane, which is a cut through to the next town) we have horses coming by too. I loved the pictures and the dogs certainly were having some fun.  Hope you had a lovely Easter.  Hugs, Terry x

Hi Ally.

I enjoyed your enjoy, especially the pictures. I once went to a Victorian schoolroom for a school trip. It was fun! We got to dress up and pretend we were children from Victorian times, though I would not have fancied living in that era myself!

Such a joy to see pictures of Nin and Barney. They are adorable, and look like such good friends. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter.

Best wishes,
Leigh :o)

The peace and quiet in
your town must be a delight.
You planned your retirement
well! Just thinking of all the
clean air you get to breathe
all day everyday fills me with
envy.

I'm a day late getting here, but I do hope you had a very Happy Easter.  I loved the pictures!  Your village sounds so nice and peaceful, I'm sure I'd love it in spite of not having a local pub, LOL.  Nin and Barney really are good mates and its always fun to see pictures of them together.  Let's hope you did not work Lyn too hard in the garden and that you both were able to share a lovely Easter dinner together.

I like the old school with the slate roof.    The church is amazing built out of many small stones mortared together.     Did Barney and Nin both need a bath after their roll in whatever.     My fruit trees will not produce this year because of the freeze.      The area apple and peach farms were badly frozen and one owner on TV said he will have to rely on growing vegetables this year if there was no crop of fruit.      Your little town must be a nice place to live even though you have to drive to purchase groceries and goods.      mark

Happy Easter Ally!  Why is it that dogs love to roll in obnoxious stuff?  We have hedgehog calling cards in our back garden this week, so perhaps that's what Barney found to roll in!  I love the pictures of the little school.  I could live my whole life without a pub, but might miss the shops to visit on occasion.  A post office would do though!

Love,
Susie xx

I wouldn't mind living in a small village as long as I was about 30 minutes or so from shopping.  It sounds like a peaceful place to live.  I enjoyed looking at your dogs, they look happy with all that space they have.  My dog would be in doggie heaven if he had that much room to roam.

So what is there to do when there is nothing on the telly if you haven't got a pub?

My dogs used to love to roll in fox droppings, ugh, I can still smell it ....the most awful smell in the world! The village school room looks lovely, I bet those kids were well trained there! I hope you had a good Easter watching Lyn working! Lol! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

Ally, your village sounds like an absolutely wonderful place to live! I envy you. The small Texas town where I live probably looks big in comparison (we have a supermarket, a Wal-Mart, and several schools). If I step on the gas in my pickup truck, I can get through here in five minutes or less.....(lol)      Jon

Hope you had a lovely Easter, Ally.  I think that school is so quaint but it is hard to imagine the children all attending.  Your village sounds so peaceful and relaxing.  I used to live in the City and moved 50 miles away 8 years ago.  It's not as rural as your village but it is so much more peaceful than where I used to live.  Your doggies look so cute!  Love xx Chris

Everything is looking so green and springy!  Looks like the dogs are having a high old time.  Dogs do know how to have a good time don't they? :)I hope it is warming up nicely there.  That is a neat old schoolhouse.  It sounds like things in your area have been preserved without progress intruding. I like that.  Our politicians could take a lesson from that, but then, their pockets must be lined with greed.  I only hope our "country" setting here will last as yours has.

I hope you had a lovely Easter and that you are having a good time, with friends and your pets, in the garden while the weather is fine.

Sorry to be so late Ally.  I could have sworn I had commented but it doesn't look like it.  It'll have been Keith, he was looking over my shoulder!  Your dogs are lovely - even when they're stinky.  Our Sally (Heinz 57) prefers rolling in pigeon poo and worm casts.  Almost as bad because you don't notice it until she gets it into the house.  Phwor! Angie, x

A shame the village school is no longer used as such, so many have now gone and I think they were special.  Loved the pictures of your dogs.  Why is it that they always find something horrible to roll in like fox poo?  What is it that attracts them I wonder.  Still looks like they had lots of fun.  Great pictures.
