Rain Rain go away

Last Saturday I got a lift into Norwich leaving the car at home ~ It is always difficult to park there ~ so thought this was a good idea to have a nice shopping spree ~ I was dropped off at the Norwich Market Place

Just crossed the road to the building society to get some cash ~ Oh my gosh was it cold and to put the tin lid on it was raining as well ~ I almost wished I was back home in the warm ~ I went into Marks & Spencers and it was so crowded ~ there was a Sale on and so many Racks of clothes "buy 2 get one free" it was difficult to manoeuver

~ so I headed for the nearest door out ~ made my way further up St Stephens and found the New Mall I had not been in here so thought it was about time I did ~ I went through the ground floor expecting to be able to get through to Chapel Field Gardens ~ now bear in mind I lived near Chapel Field before I got married ~ so knew the way well ~ or at least I thought I knew the way ~ but there was no exit so went into a book shop to ask directions ~ I did order a book while I was in there one I knew Lyn wanted called "Our Betty" by Elizabeth Smith ~ she is an actress who is in a programme called "The Royal Family" ~ on TV ~ anyway the young man who served me said if I went up the stairs just behind him and turned left and walk straight ahead it would bring me out to where I wanted to be ~ well I did this and came out somewhere ~ I knew not where ~ It was very unfamiliar to me so decided to make my way back to the entrance and take the way to my sister Joys "the way I knew"

I eventually arrived on Chapel Field Road and turned up the Road where the Norfolk and Norwich hospital used to be ~ but didn't know you could no longer get through there ~ so once again I backtracked back on to Chapel Field Road ~ It was still raining and really cold ~ and I was so cold and wet ~ No umbrella ~ I eventually arrived at Joy's and it was so nice to feel the warmth of the heaters and to take off my drenched coat ~ My Nephew Tim said he goes in the Mall quite often and still manages to get lost ~ that made me feel a bit better ~

Tom came and picked me up when I rang home it was quite nice to be driven back and forth but it would have been much better if the weather had been warm I found no fun in shopping in the cold and wet I didn't spend any money only on the book for Lyn and next time I  take a trip into Norwich shall make sure I take my car

Oh, poor you what a disappointing trip.  We re bathed in glorious sunshine today as we have been since Sunday.  I have taken advantage of it and have made a start on the gardening.  Hope your weather is better today.  Eileenx

I hadnt heard of the book will certainly look out for it,think Liz Smith is a very talented versatile actress, yes I remember it was cold and wet ,so I didnt go on my usual jaunt up to our town centre as usual  on Saturday ,I  went yesterday in stead and the weather was lovely ,not so nice today though ,so far ,Lovely to see your pictures Ally, your garden is beginning to waken up ,after all it is officially Spring now ,at last ! hope your keeping well dear ,you have been quiet of late ,great to get a posting from you, dear friend ....love Jan xx

OH Dear Ally Isn't it so frustrating when they are always changing and altering things.I am so sorry you had all that walking and looking around finding your way  to do Grrrr.Like you say especially when the weather is so poor too.It realy gets through to the bones, I feel that rain and cold,no matter how many layers we put on.Well not a wasted journey seeing as you finally got Lynns book.I havn't watched the program The Royal Family but I know plenty who like the comedy show..They are just building a new Mall in our Town, knowing me I will probably get lost too LOL,when it opens and I take a look.Good to know others get lost though isn't it Ha .I can imagine the stampede in M&S if there were sales on,it's usually busy in ours at the best of times, without sales.being a small person I usually get burried amongst the crowd or lost under the racks Haaaa.Lovely pictures once again and to see the dogs again and the cats is lovely.Happy you got home safe and warmed up when you got inside.Mmmmmm It feels so snug and warm then one doesn't want to move.Take care God Bless.

Is the Liz Smith book out in paperback yet?  She was born here in Scunthorpe you know, as was Dame Joan Plowright.  She's good though, Ms Smith.  Ey up - the sun's out at last! love, Angie xx

awww Ally....sorry the day wasn't what you had planned...and yes it is frustrating to know that you know how to get somewhere....and not be able to.....cause some one decided to block the way....LOL...sheesh....but glad Tom was able to come get you....but you know....sometimes I wish we here in KY could catch a ride...via busline....instead of having to drive...gas costs dearly...and parking sometimes is costly too....but alas...we have a busline....but we are not on the part to stop...and it is quite a walk to get there...might as well drive....LOL....but you saved some money....and oh how I wish I could have been there for the sale at Marks and Spencer...I so enjoyed that store when in England!!!!  It is raining heavily here in KY....real dark....have lamps on....hate a gloomy setting....LOL...but good to have the rain...helps with all the chemical we put on lawn and in flower beds....God Bless...hugs from KY....Ora

At least you were able to get the book ordered for Lyn on your cold and rainy trip to the mall.    It will be warm soon there with all summer to warm up at least.    The flowers for Mothering Day are beautiful that you received!    Barney and Nin look to be having a great time and the lawn is green as can be.     I have not been able to sit at the computer and have been on my board/cushion reading to releive the pain during our rain and cold here that caused me the worst pain.   I finally got an appointment to see the back surgeon after waiting 6 months for May 21, if not before.     Salty was at the Veterinarian yesterday and weighs 44.5 pounds or the same as last year.     He is licking at some sores on his legs that makes them worse which the doctor said can cause them to enlarge so they will be watched, other than that he is a healthy dog at 4 years old something.    I will let you know how things progress with my back.        mark

Poor Ally!  I know that Rip van Winkle feeling !  I'm dreading going to Bangor tomorrow as there is a new traffic system: I  went the wrong way round a new roundabout a few years ago!
Love Liz Smith, she's a wonderful actress. Bunny xx

Lovely to see these beautiful spring pictures and of course the pups and kitties!  We have enjoyed some lovely spring weather today and yesterday but that's all due to change soon according to Todd's weather station!  More's the pity!  We do need the rain though as well as the sunshine and so I'll abide it, for a day or so anyways!  Any longer than that, and  it's rain rain go away!

Well at least you had an outing!  The doggies are looking good in the garden and hope that all is well with them both.  I haven't ever been to Norwich shopping and wonder whether I should go and play hide and seek there now too! Hugs.  Terry x

Oh Ally...I could just imagine how miserable you must have felt...cold wet and LOST to boot especially in a place you once knew so well.     Glad all was well in the end...and think of the money you saved ...to spend another day!  Eve

I liked your photos, the flowers with the purple balls all over them are grape hyacinth.  I love hyacinth although the smell can be a little overwhelming!  Linda

That's the spirit! I pray you never lose
your adventurous impulses. An outting such
as yours - apparently impromptu - might
not be a cushioned ride, but my view is that
such forays keep alive some precious element
in our character.  Brava, and thanks for the
good example!

Ally
The pictures were great, thanks for sharing them.  Barney and Nin seemed to be having a great time in the garden.  that last picture of Joy's cat looked so much like my little Emmie.  I'm sorry you got soaked on your shopping trip, but I applaud your effort to have the adventure.  I thought it was nice that you thought of Lyn and ordered the book for her.  You are always thinking of others!  :)

I'm sorry you got soaked on your day out shopping Ally. I get lost quite often when they build new things. Even got lost at our new Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago when I tried to find the exit! Lol! The photos are lovely, Barney and Nin always look so happy playing and the cats are gorgeous! Have a good weekend! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

Please pardon the pun, but I'm so sorry the weather put such a damper on your shopping trip. I imagine there will have to be another shopping trip in the near future to make up for this.

I enjoyed your pictures, as always. Good to see you!

You always make your stories so interesting.  I could almost visualize a part from the Happy Potter movies.  Did you feel like you were in anothe demension?  We need rain in Florida, fields are getting dry and I don't want the dewberries to dry up before I get some.  Thanks for sharing.

I think I'd be asking if I could take my shoes off as well Ally, you must have walked miles and not noticed the distance.  Hope you've been cosy and warm all week to make up for it. Rache

Gosh what a shame you got soaked! Take your car next time. I go everywhere in my car these days. With my blue badge I can park anywhere free of charge usually! Love Conniex

At least it's warm today for you, Ally.  We have a very damp, rainy day here today which makes it feel chillier than it really is.  I'm laughing at you getting lost because that happens to me.  Here in the US, they are always tearing things down and changing the ways in and out.  Cute kitty in the box.  My kitty and my daughter's cats all seem to love to get in boxes and hide.  Have a good Sunday.  Love xx Chris

It always sounds good, getting out and going shopping, until I run into the crowds, then I am just like you, I just want to go home! ;) I just grin and bear it, and try to have a good time once I am out.
