poorly Barney

We had to take Barney to the Vets this morning as he was unwell ~ we could not put a finger on what ailed him but knew something was amiss ~ although he is a loving little boy and likes to get close ~ this morning it was more than that ~ when we let Nin and Barney into the garden he would only walk beside Lyn normally he is into everything in and out of the shrubs ~ looking for something to chase ~ Lyn telephoned the Vets and they agreed to see him later in the day ~ but we were both concerned so Lyn rang again ~ we questioned each other wondering if we were over reacting ~ but as I said to Lyn to go with our gut reaction ~ the receptionist said to go straight away which we did ~ Normally Barney barks at every other dog ~ cat ~ and any other animal in the waiting room but today he sat very still and was actually shaking ~ the vet said he had picked up a virus and had a raging temperature ~ he gave Barney an antibiotic injection and a anti inflamitory one as well ~ and has put him on a 4 day course of anti biotics ~ he assured Lyn that as he was up to date with all his injections ~ that although he was a poorly little chap now he said he was sure it would clear up within the next few days ~

Poor Nin was nearly beside himself waiting in the car and whined until he saw them coming toward the car ~ they are such close buddies ~

Ah, "Barney" is a dog!  I got it.
All the photos in so many journals
'forced' me to get a digital camera,
tiny, under palm-sized. My glob hands
might be too big, ha ha. It sits
in the original package waiting for lazy
me to plumb its depths. I like the
cord with which the camera is plugged
into the computer. Haven't done that
yet. Wanna see 409 finch photos?! Ha!
Hope Barney is already fully recovered.
Maybe, hopefully, he just likes summer better?!?

Poor old Barney, I hope he feels better soon. Bless Nin for worrying about him too! It's funny but we do seem to know when our pets are sock don't we? You'd think the cold would kill any viruses off! Jeannette xx

Ally
Sorry to hear poor Nin is sick.  I am glad you decided to get him to the vet right away instead of waiting.  I'm sure that will make a big difference in his recovery time.  I know our pets are not human, but we get so attached to them and they really do become close members of the family.

My cat Emmie has a sprain right now and can't jump up like she normally does.  The vet says she will be fine with time, but I have to lift her when she wants to get up on her normal resting spots.  It kills me to see her hurting like this, so I know how anxious you must be to learn that Nin has a virus with a raging fever.

The rates that vets charge inthis country has gone through the roof over the last several years, so yes, voer here the vets do very well for themselves.  I'm sure it is the same over on your side of the pond.  Take care, I see my comment is turning into a letter, LOL

Glad I came back today to check your journal today.  I re-read my comment to you from yesterday and realized I should have proof read it before I hit the save button.  I do know it was Barney who was sick, not Nin.  I also had some typos I should have fixed.  I'm going to blame it on having a senior moment.  I hope Barney is feeling better today.

Oh Ally, how worrying.  Awful when you know something's wrong, and they can't tell you.  Hope the medication does the trick, and swiftly.  Keep us posted.......Bunny xx

Keeping Barney in my prayers...and I pray all goes well.  I know for a fact Vets make good money...but they also have high over head.  So cute how your other little one waiting ...mine do the same...they can't wait until one of their own is home safe.
Have a great Tuesday...hugs and love,
Joyce

I hope Barney feel better soon. Our pets are like our own children and it can be taxing when they are sick. Hugs to you and your family.

I know how Barney feels. I am in my 15th day of the worst flu I have had for years. The worst part is the hacking cough which won't let me sleep. Like Barney, I am on anti-biotics and am desparately waiting for them to kick in. Dan.

Oh Ally, is there anything worse than a sick pet?  They can't tell us how they feel or why they feel that way.  You were so right to take him straight to the vet's.  I loved the picture of your other dog waiting anxiously for his mate to come out again.  I know I am commenting on this several days after the fact, and so am hoping that this precious little man is fine now!

Hugs,
Susie

I hope Barney is feeling a little better Ally, such a worry for Lyn and yourself and Nin must be a bit fretful too.  Really hope he'll be running around doing his normal tricks soon. Rache

Ally, I do hope Barney is improving.  Vets' premises are beginning to look like private clinics !  And quite rightly so.  In Welsh, vets are called `milfeddygon'.  This means they have to be able to treat `a thousand animals', so their training is longer than a doctor's.  I think they are worth every penny. I hope that the anti-biotics help and that Barney will be rid of whatever virus that has gotten him down.    He must have had you and Lyn worried.     Nin is certainly not wanting to have anything to do with having Barney exit the car without him, lol.    mark

I am so glad you took him on to the vet.  You know an animal feels bad if its showing.  I know usually they will hide pain and ailments from you to a certain extent.  A virus, wow.  Where in the world would a virus come from that would attack a dog?  You were right, always go with your gut feelings.  What a pretty little cuddle bug he is too!  I bet they are both just spoiled rotten.  Which is a good thing, they give so much back in return. :)

aw Ally, poor little Barney, he must have felt so poorly...it was so good that you and Lynn both followed your instincts...and poor Nin in the car! He knew Barney was sick and knew he was in the vets...aw....Linda xx
