This and that

Do you remember the Dental appointment I had ~ that I was not going to think about until it was nearer the day ~ I had a phone call from the surgery telling me I had missed my appointment which was on November 1st ~ Honest I didn't do it on purpose ~ just that I hadn't turned my calendar over to the new month ~ Now I have to face it all over again ~ when it could now have been in my past ~

Halloween Night it was Raining ~ the Wind was howling through the trees ~ and it was bitterly cold ~just the night for ghosties and goblins ~ it was pitch dark except for the small light in the Porch at the front door ~ and a Pumpkin lit up in all it's glory on the doorstep ~ just waiting to welcome any wayward Spirits that passed by ~ Not forgetting the Bunch of Garlic which I am told is a necessity on such occasions ~to ward off any evil spirits that may try to call ~

But none came not even the little lad from last year ~ But I must say Lyn is extremely happy as she grasped the tray of Candy and runs off to her bedroom ~ probably to devour them all at her leisure ~

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Possibly the last Rose of Summer ~ it is called "With Love" and is very special to me ~

We did not get any here either but I bet Lyn is happy with all those sweets.  At least your pumpkin would have been seen by any passers by.

I didn't have any here either but I left the street side of the house dark and retreated to my bedroom to read and watch TV.  If I do decided to participate in Halloween, I always buy the kind of candy I like such as little Hershey Bars, Snickers or  M&M's.    Love your graphic.   Linda in Washington

I hope you don't get charged for missing your appointment, they charge quite a lot at ours, so I make a point of making sure I go.

I hate it when I miss an appointment!  I am the type of person that's always half an hour early for everything...so when I miss one I feel really bad!  I love the picture of the rose...we have several pretty pink blooms still on the rose bush outside our kitchen window...summer's last hurrah!

Read your post. curled my lip at your excuses. How come you didn't forget to turn your thingy face down? I know a man called Freud or something who would have a field day with you. was there a sign on your gate that warned Haloeeners off? like Beware Mad and Bad Dogs. Take your pick befoe they pick theirs.  Severe fine if my dogs hurt their teeth on you.

Haloeen weather bad in N/West England too but still had a dozen callers, all of them small and accompanied by adults.

There you are. lets do some good in the world.   Make that a national crusade/

No children over 10 yrs old. and ALL MUST be accompanied by at least one adult.

Aww Ally the rose is a poignant pic, she's lovely.  I didn't get any trick or treats either, the streets were very quiet.  Lol @ Lyn. Rache

Too bad we don't live close we could go to the dentist together and hold each other's hand. I have postponed my appointment twice and have to face the music Monday. Beautiful last rose of summer. Paula

Sorry Ally, I can't accept the excuse that you forgot to turn your calender over! Lol! Some dentists fine you for missing appointments, hope yours doesn't! Once again, our spirits appear kindred...forgetting the dentist just long enough! Now it's back to the drawing board. But hey, way I see it, we still have teeth to be worked on, right? Not all is lost!

I may have to figure a way to perhaps visit and Trick Or Treat at your house. I always loved the candy samples I got from my Grandparents when they returned from Britain. Keep an eye out for me, ok?

Garlic, oh my yes, did I forget the garlic.  Well we had absolutely no one up here on what might look like spook hill to any trick-or-treater that would come by.  I was trying to think if I would come up here if I was a kid or a group of kids especially since we were watching a video and forget to turn the light on.  No, I don't think I'd do it.  Your description of the weather and wind in the trees sure set the mood for your place.  I can imagine that a lot of folks chicken out and overlook their dentist appointments, by accident or other wise don't you?  Can't wait till they make it painless and you don't have to have novacine.

Blessing to you Ally

So sorry you missed your dental appointment...I would miss it from fright.  I hope you get it over with soon.  Wish we had a little piece of candy somewhere in the house....they did wipe us out here.   We don't allow Will to have all the candy he collected...the one thing he would see a lot of if we did, would be the dentist...have a wonderful weekend...relax...I love the last rose!!  So pretty...hugs,
joyce

Ally, our halloween day was gorgeous, sunny and 70.  Then the cold, blowing rain moved in.   We had 2 or 3 trick or treaters.  My son was glad about that because he is eating all the candy...lol...thank goodness because then I can't.  Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.  xx Chris

I must say that the dentist is not my favourite person and we too did not have any children knocking at our door for 'trick or treat' which means my family and I have to eat up all the sweeties we have purchased.  ..

By for now,,

John.

Hey, Ally,
I know the feeling ... anything that is scheduled on or near the 1st of the month stands a good chance of getting overlooked.  My poor nephew knows that his Aunt Tina loves him, but nearly always fails to get his birthday card to him on time !
This was the first Halloween since I married that I haven't been home to greet the littles ones out looking for treats.  I missed seeing the costumes and the big grins.
Love the rose .... enjoy it while it lasts.  xx Tina

I do not get any 'trick or treaters' where I live in the country.    The last rose of sumeere is wonderful!    mark
