Looks like today will be the last one this year for a swim in the pool ~  It is a nice sunny day with just a slight breeze ~ the sky is blue with not a cloud in sight  ~

The Children will be here soon  and they all want a swim as will the adults (Not me though :o)

Have you noticed how quickly the nights are pulling in ~ it is nearly dark here at 7.30pm in the evening ~ It's the time of the year I love ~ nice cosy wood fire ~ a good book to read ~ time to get the sewing machine out ~ and get back to the hobbies I don't have time to do in the Spring or Summer ~

My earache is better and I would say I am fighting fit

I just hope all of my friends in JLand who have health problems soon get back to good health ~

I would love a wood burning fire.  A swim in the pool?  Way too chilly, you must have very hardy relatives.  Glad your earache is better.  Yes, the nights are really drawing in now.

Hiya Ally, sorry not been commenting much lately but all will be revealed later and I am pleased to say I am feeling more positive than I have done of late!!! Enjoy the rest of the day, love Joan

You're quite a bit higher
in latitude than I am in Los Angeles,
but yes, Autumn is definitely here
nevertheless. You just might be
the only person I know strong enough to
NOT watch television. At least you never
mention media entertainments. "Reading
a book" & "sewing machine" and "hobbies"
would seem to smother that thief of Time,
Television. If so good for you. And if the Telly
is sometimes turned on I won't tell a soul, ha ha....

Hello Ally,

Love the photos, my sunflowers finished some time ago but were lovely at the time. I know what you mean about the evenings drawing in now but it is nice to close the curtains and shut out the night.  I`m sorry to hear that you had problems with earache but I`m glad your feeling completely better now. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon. :o)

It's wet and windy here, Ally - make the most of it!  Those plants look very exotic, and the sunflower......well.
Hope your earache has gone for good.  It's a horrible pain, my mother used to pour warm glycerine and carbolic in my ears - well over 60 years ago.  Very comforting.

Hi Ally, no the humidity has not left good ole Florida as yet. I am waiting with baited breath for that to happen. Just a hint of cold weather would be wonderful after six months of total heat...this place is good for lizards and snakes! Glad you are feeling better....love, Sandi

So glad to read that your ear is better. I know that is a dreadful pain. Your sunflower is beautiful. That is not the kind John and his daughter mow down here. Our's are small weeds. Well the flower is small and the plant is tall. Paula

Yep, the nights are definitely drawing in. There's a nippy little breeze blowing out there this evening.

They're wonderful pictures Ally, they made me smile.  Glad to see the earache is better. Rache

Lovely church graphic, Ally.  Oh my gosh..an ear ache.  I remember the ear problems I had after last summer's cruise.  My ears were so infected I finally had to go to an ear specialist.  He suggested a Saline Nasal Spray to be used everyday for the rest of my life to keep ear infections & colds away.  I've been doing what he suggested and have only had sniffles for a couple days in the last year.  Yes, the days are getting shorter.  Sunset here is about 7:30pm also.  And if I wake up (at Gabi's request) at 5:30 or 6am it's still dark out there.  I'm so happy to be retired and not have to go off to work in the dark like I did for so many years.  Take care & feel better soon....Linda in Washington state

So glad you got over your ear ache.  Todd and I were just saying yesterday how quickly autumn seems to have come upon us, but then, as i reminded him, it is the middle of September now so we should not be surprised!  Have a great week!

Those sunflowers are just gorgeous! They sure are tall, I bet the squirrels will find them soon enough. The doggies are looking well. Glad you are feeling better now. Ear aches can really bring you down. Our weather is cooling some now. We have lows in the fifties and highs in the lower eighties during the day, with low humidity, it is so nice. When you sew what do you like to make? Do you have any pictures of things you have made before? I would like to see them! Have a good week this week.

Hi Ally,  Thanks for showing us the photos, I love to see them! I'm glad your earache is better, I suffered terribly as a child and now have permanent damage in my left ear, even after an operation.  Yes the nights are drawing in, the mornings too are colder, I actually wore a fleece jacket to work today plus a thick cardigan! Lovely to hear from you!  Love, Pat   http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/

Oh that Toby is a cutie!  I love cleome and that purple one is a new one.  I have pink ones blooming in my back garden now.  I wanted them to set seed so I can replant next year, but so far they are sitting there saying, "Who me?"

Ally, I'm glad that you're feeling better- and I'm glad that you shared the delightful "pill poem" in your previous blog entry! This is truly my favorite time of year. Here in the wilds of Texas it's still warm enough to go swimming during the day, but the days are cooling down. It gets dark at around 8:00 p.m. Take care and enjoy those cozy wood fires.....      Jon

Enough already!!!!  Dark nights?  A mere blip, you must be mistaken - we haven't had summer yet, not up here we haven't - lol!!!  What?  It's true then?  It really is Autumn?  So THAT'S why the leaves are dropping off!

Glad your earache is better.  What gorgeous little dogs you've got.  I've never been able to get Sally to carry anything in her mouth for more than a couple of yards.
love, Angie, xx

I'm just dropping by to say thank you for leaving a comment in my journal today.  So glad that Dad finally found out I have a journal too.  All these years and I didn't realize I hadn't let him know.  I'll put your journal on my alerts so I can come visit again.  'On Ya' - ma (from Good Morning Sunshine)

Barney and Nin are really sweet Ally! I love sunflowers, so majestic and bold aren't they? Since the weekend when you wrote it's turned freezing here with high winds and rain. I want my summer back! Jeannette xx

Hi there Ally,

I am sorry that you are having problems accessing my new blog.  Several people are having problems and I may have to find another site.

By the way, I am writting to you, through this part of the AOL system because, when I try to write to you, in the normal way, it says that your post box is full.

By for now,

John.

Glad to see you back again. also that your ear ach is better.
On the 1st July I had a mould made of the entrance to my ear for a hearing aid I was told I needed. As soon as the lady pushed the soft stuff like Playdough into my ear I felt a piercing pain. This carried on until the stuff had hardened and she removed it. From then on I had ear ache and discharge. two lots of antibiotics, two lots of drops and it is still not right. Has stopped discharging but feels sore and pops quite often.
The amusing thing is that I got the hearing aid on Thursday and have only wore it twice. It's like having a walkman plugged in your ear and the volume turned right up. It makes my TV , which has it's sound run through Hi-Fi speakers and Sub-Woofer, sound like a cheap supermarket portable with a tiny tinny sounding speaker.  Something wrong somewhere. I would have been very annoyed if I had bought it as they are very expensive. Dan

Wow, those sunflowers are huge.  I can't seem to grow them here for some reason but love them.  Glad your ear is feeling better.  Yes, the days are certainly growing shorter.  I find myself getting tired earlier.  Love xx Chris

It has got a lot colder and I put my heating on a few times lately.I like the cosiness of my flat in winter. Although I did not move in here until early March and so I have not had a full winter in this flat.
I am feeling a lot better now thanks for your interest and best wishes. Love Conniexx

Trying to do a few comments this early morning Ally.Lovely to come back and see a few pics of Barney and Nin which I love.Still very tired though and having to go have naps Zzzzzzzz.Oh how cute those dogs of yours are.The flowers are most unusual you have purchased.Lovely sunflowers you have grown too.Well done in keeping them away from the pesky slugs when they were small, they always managed to have  a good feed on mine those slugs did..I was never succsessful with Sunflowers Grrrr.Yes the nights are creeping in dark sooner now Urrrr afraid I'm not very fond of the dark nights,Halloween and christmas approaching soon.Where has this year gone I ask myself.I feel when you mention your sewing machine I might be admiring new cushion covers again LOL!! I am envious.I cannot seem to get back into my sewing at all nowadays.Happy to read your ear infection has subsided and all is well on that one.Lovely posting I have so enjoyed it.Take Care Ally God Bless Kath astoriasand http://journals.aol.co.uk/astoriasand/MYSIMPLERHYMES

Thank you for stopping by my journal and your kind comments.  I had turned my alerts off when I left town and didn't get them all turned on so didn't know about the earache, I'm glad it's getting better, they are awful.  It's not swimming weather here, can't imagine.  We had a big full moon last night.  Joni

I enjoyed the photos.   The flowers are spectacular!   The scrarecrows are great!     I hope your earache is completely gone.    My ear has been draining but not infected.     Thanks for your concern in my journal.    I have a photo to post soon.     The weather has not be cooperating with my back so I can't sit for long at the computer.    I am trying to get as much done as I can on the building project having to rest a lot recently with hot weather.     Now with the cooler weather finally here I hope we get the roof on.     mark
